That's funny though because I thought Nikon lenses were always more expensive than Canon

First session with my new camera!! *squee*

it was sooo freaking HOT in their house...I always get super warm at these newborn shoots but NEVER like I did today. I was dripping sweat...my hair was like a big frizz ball by the time we were done, lol. But baby was nice and toasty

Well, it's one of their "L" lenses. I am not sure what the Nikon equivalent is?

Advice on what in particular? That's a very broad question

Last set of maternity photos this afternoon. I made this awesome floral wreath to wear on my head. I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's barely going to be above 50, which is the sucky part.. but I'm going to tough it out at least 30-45 minutes. At least it's nice and sunny and t doesn't seem all that windy.

I'm actually super excited!! I don't think I've been this excited (and not straight up nervous) after photos of myself.. perhaps ever? lol. She showed me a bunch of preview photos and not all were solid gold but I saw enough good ones that I'm really excited and feel like I'm actually going to look good, especially after editing, plus she's happy to do some nip and tuck where I might need it. And it was nice to just be honest with someone about areas I didn't like AND she was very detailed on posing just like me so THANK GOD. Haha. Eek.

Hi all! I hope I'm in the right place   Just bought my first DSLR with the kit lens (Canon Rebel t3, nothing fancy) and was looking for any recommendations as for what type of lens I should invest in next, if any. I mainly take photos of my kids, flowers, wildlife just as a hobby and was wondering if another lens would be worth looking in to for this model camera that would cover those types of shots. I just want to be able to make the most out of my camera and feed my creativity as I am also sticking with strictly using manual only. I'm not looking to spend a ton of money, either. Any suggestions?

I'm pretty new to all of this and most of the terms are a foreign language to me. I'm just learning. Thanks!

I'd go with the 50mm 1.8 prime or 50mm 1.4 if you can afford it, both great lenses for beginners and blows the kit lens out of the water.

Perfect! Thank you

I'm also having a hard time deciding on which to buy first, the lens or one of the speedlite external flashes. I'm trying to go without the use of flash, but natural lighting sucks this time of year in my house (it's still too cold to go outside for my taste and window lighting isn't all that great either, as I spend most of my daylight at work) and I haven't quite gotten the hang of my WB settings.
