re: Official Photography Thread. ♥

So we went to paint our spare room yesterday. The house was listed as a 4 bedroom with an office since that room has no closet.

We got up there, and said eff it. We tore down the wall instead. ha ha ha ha. Someone must have put that up before because it was soooo poorly done. Glad to have it gone though. We now have a loft.

Love it.

Totally off topic, sorry. ha ha

Quick question ladies when taking pictures inside your home what setting do you usually use. I've tried taking then in M but my pictures come out yellowish or blurry. I have a t3i if that helps with a kit lens and a 50mm 1.8

I just took pictures inside with all the windows open. Manual mode, f2.8, ISO like, 600, SS 1/160.

If I don't have the windows open, I shoot wide open at 1.8, and bump my ISO to anywhere between 1000-2000.

Thank you! By any chance do you know where I can buy backdrops?

Yellow is from the tungsten lights (standard lightbulbs) and blurry is from a low shutter speed, most likely. I either use window light when I can or adjust my white balance accordingly. I'm not afraid to raise my ISO to a point that I need to, to be able to use a decent shutter speed.

Agh this thread moves so fast! I can't keep up with you guys!

I did my first set of mini's last weekend for valentines day and I feel like I've been at my computer editing all week long. I'm exhausted! The oldest child during the mini's was 3 so it was definitely challenging, all babies and toddlers, but it was so much fun. figured I'd share some here

I also did a newborn shoot last monday and a mommy/daughter shoot this Saturday.

And this adorable little guy is my nephew<3 he's turning 2, so I snapped a few really quick and unplanned photos of him! I just adore him!

Since I'm just starting out (the 1st of the year is when I "officially" opened), I am undercharging so that I can build up my portfolio a little more. How much do you guys think I should be charging when I raise my session fees?

Cute! Well, what to charge .. you need to figure out your costs! Plus, how many sessions do you want to ideally do per month, what would you like per session, what is your front end fee versus what you're going to hope to make on sales, etc?

These are great! I'm in love with the Valentine's set-up!. SO & I are planning on building a "kissing booth" very similar to that for DD's Valentine's pictures

I'm way too lazy/pregnant for that LOL. I can only imagine asking hubby to help me build that on our limited time schedule.. The look I'd get, oh boy. I am not sure what I'll do for Z's Valentine's photos yet. I still need to make a shirt to match the huge tutu I made. Plus I have a black and pink striped romper, if she's up to two sets. I figured I'd just go somewhere outside.. maybe I'll get her some Valentine's balloons or a sucker.

I'm sure whatever you decide will be gorgeous! I like the sucker idea! Maybe something to keep her happy

I'm obsessed with owls (Her room, Christmas tree, 1st birthday. everythingggg is owls.) So of course her outfit is a little dress with owls that says "Owl always love you" & "Whooo loves you" I think. Something like those. lol.

We're going to build it so that it can be customized easily if that makes sense. I think I'm going to turn it into a lemonade stand in the spring & maybe a Christmas tree booth next Christmas   lol Who knows what all I'll try to do with it!

Yeah, I dunno, she doesn't really eat candy and has actually never eaten a sucker, so not sure if she'd know what to do with it LOL. But, she does love balloons. It is smart to make it easy to customize. Get a lot of life out of it that way. This is just what I did last year:

I mainly put her up on something to keep her from running away from me LOL. They weren't too impressive, they were just for the hell of it. Aww, she's changed so much.

So cute! Love those big brown eyes. That's a good idea to keep her from running away! I might have to try that. It seems impossible to get any photos of Ry anymore unless we're outside with a lot of space because she just wants to go all the time.
