Do you shoot RAW? I always just leave it on Auto WB and fix it in post if it's off.

Also, overcast is awesome for portraits. It softens shadows and the clouds are like a giant softbox over the world.

okay...its nearer closer to when I get to buy my camera... and now im not confident in any of the choices....I was going to go nikon but I can't afford as many lenses or accesories because of how much the lenses with built in motors cost...so I wanted to get a body that had anAF motor in it which means Ill have to go up in Nikon or go Canon.... I might be able to convince DH to up my budget a little. Right now its at 700 and I FULLY intend to buy use and look out for Ebay auctions...

Can you guys throw out some options? I jsut want to shoot my kids and my cats but ive always been into photography so I dont want to have to upgrade for a year or two...

I'm probably going to have a spending limit of about 1k and that includes buying lenses, a bag, ect.

I'd get a Canon Rebel T3 and a 50mm 1.8

I'd be wary of Ebay because of gray market items.

What is gray market? The ones I was looking at tended to be ones that someone upgraded from. None were new at all.

Also what is shutter count? and how is that important when buying used?

And did the other person mean T3 or T3i?

Okay gray market is cameras from other countries like Japan and etc, the USA warranty is invalid on them. Shutter count is how many times the shutter has been used; how many photos have been taken. Shutters have a finite life before they need to be replaced, so the lower the #, the better. I wouldn't buy one over 15k.

okay the one I was looking at had 1500ish shutter count. Not the one I am buying but when I was looking around someone listed that info with theirs. All the ones looked at listed all the manfacturer info and such and I haven't come across a Nikon or Canon on there yet that was out of country.. I dont even like to buy from people selling out of country cause they take forever. I bought eyelashes once from china and they took 2 months to get... by the time I got them I had already forgotten I bought them LOL

It can be a USA seller still selling a gray market item.
