"forced" weaning.

I'm so sad. =( I knew it'd be hard..but I decided to just rock him to sleep tonight w/ a shirt on that goes all the way up to my collar bone. He has a bottle of water too..but won't drink it..

He was crying, and crying, and throwing a major tantrum..he's 17 months old & I just feel so bad..but its time to wean him.

I'm crying my eyes out. I'm taking away his favorite thing in the world. =(

I just don't want to nurse throughout this pregnancy..I need a break if I'm gonna BF this one. & mine as well wean him now than later.

Does it get easier? How long will these tantrums last? I feel awful

I have no advice but good luck. My son is 26 months and still nurses after he wakes up from a nap or in the AM. I'm so done. I decided that today was the last day. Its going to be hard on him but he will be okay.

I am deciding to wean my LO now. It isn't easy..  

I wouldn't be able to wean like that.  
I always wean very slowly and let the child lead the way.

It is. I'm hoping it'll only be a few restless days. My nipples are so sore and I just honestly can't do it anymore. Props to people that tandem nurse, I can't do it.

I wanted to tandem nurse but my milk dried up and it was painful. So, I suggested to my then 2 1/2 yr old that maybe it was time to stop and we did. I wish I hadn't but at the time, I just couldn't do it. Smurf was really really painful.

How slowly? As I said above, Isaiah is only nursing two times a day but when he does nurse, he's like pulling up my shirt, moving the bra over, going from one nipple to the next, like attacking them. His nursing etiquette went out the window a long time ago. I'm just so ready to stop because I don't enjoy it anymore but he sure does.

I thought he would have self weaned by now.

I hope things go smoothly for you. My son is 10 months and I just got a BFP. I'm letting him lead the way when he's ready and I hope to be able to tandem nurse when this baby is born.

When did it dry up?

He's sleeping now..I haven't put him down on the bed yet though. We cosleep too so this is gonna be difficult as hell I think. Atleast until he forgets about his "bewbbeeez"=(

& jas, same w/ B. He nurses to nap & to bed only though. That's it. During the day for about a month now I've been distracting him when he wants to nurse. We'll go outside for a walk, or for a drive, color, play with blocks instead..but this nightime smurf is hard.

You can, but its best to wean "slowly" like start with taking out one nursing session..wait a few weeks, then another.

I laid him down & he didn't wake up. I think I'm gonna start sleeping on the couch w/ the baby monitor until further notice bc he's sneaky & tries to nurse in the middle of the night sometimes.

My LO only feeds at bedtime and nap time. So could I just stop now? And my milk has gone down a lot, but what do I do when they swell up?

I wish that would happen to me! Its prlly be easier if he realizes hey there isn't anything coming out!
