34 weeker
posted 18th Aug
Anyone with a 34-35 weeker? How well did they do? Due to pre-e deveolping the doctor is sounding like he wants to take baby soon, with in the week. Right now I'm 34w 5d, so I'll be in the 35th week when she comes most likely. Unless things take a turn for the better, but just trying to prepare myself for the worst just in case.

My DS was born at 33 weeks. I was injected with steroids to mature his lungs 2 weeks before he was born. For 33 weeks he didn't need a breathing tube or anything, he just needed help learning to drink from a bottle and breast. He was out of the hospital a week and 5 days later. If they give you the steroids it would help the baby out a lot. I hope everything turns for the better though. Good luck!

I had my DS at 35w 4d and he came home with me. No real problems. He had a weak sucking reflex so feeding was hard at first, but he got the hang of it.

DS was born at 35 weeks, He was in the NICU for 3 weeks. He had trouble breathing on his own at first but he did really well. He wouldn't have been in the NICU that long but he had severe IUGR and other health problems that developed inside the womb.

I was a 35 weeker with no steroid shots and went home with my parents. My oldest was 36 with steroid shots and stayed in the nicu a week it really depends on the baby

My 10 year old was a 34 weeker. He was breathing on his own at birth-no steroid shots given so I was lucky. He stayed in the NICU for 10 days until he got eating from a bottle down.

Yeah with my DS the doctors wanted to make sure his lungs were developed so I got the shot. He did great for a 33 weeker. It's always good just to make sure.

They would of probably stopped my labor if his sperm donor would of actually let me go in. I was in a very abusive relationship at that time so I was very lucky everything turned out so well.

My sister was induced at exactly 34wks because of pre e and my niece came out fine, weighing 4lbs4oz. She never even had to go to the nursery and stayed in room with my sister until they were discharged 2 days later. She did have to go to the pedi every other day for a couple of weeks to make sure she was gaining weight. My sister did have the steroid shot before having her though.

Wow I'm sorry and I'm glad everything worked out. My sons sperm donor was abusive but thank god he was deployed my whole pregnancy. I went into labor at 31 weeks and it was stopped, I was 3cms dialated and I was put on bedrest. I went into labor 2 weeks later. I was 4 cms dialated going to the hospital and an hour later 5 so that was it.

Oh wow thank you everyone, I feel better hearing good stories. Even if she spends a small amount of time in the NICU I'm fine with that, I just want her healthy as possible.
They said for me being sick (with the pre-e beginning) she's doing extrememly well-I'm on the monitors 24/7. I would love if she could be released when I am (considering I'm also Type 1 diabetic I may or may not be kept a day or two longer than a "normal" mom so maybe we'll have a good chance of leaving at the same time. It's really nerve wrecking to think she may come as early as tomorrow, but I'm hopeful we can avoid that till at least Monday when the perineonatologist (?) will be back to talk to us about my progress.
