Quoting Dawn&Leila +1?:" My DD is 40lbs. I just found out that I'm expecting. Is it okay for me to lift her and/or pick her up? TIA."

I don't see why not. Realistically, it's going to happen anyways.

My sons only 1 and 25lbs. I'm 18 weeks. And I'm starting to cut back on picking him up. He's so spoiled though it's hard. I heard nothing over 20-25lbs. I ignored it until I pulled a muscle in my belly button yesterday. That was my warning to stop. N chill out. I won't completely stop picking him up but try not to as much.

good question!! my four year old is about 45lbs and my 2 year old is about 33 lbs. I've been lifting my 4 year old.when putting him in the bed and my 2 year old still thinks she's an infant at times..

Yep. When I was pregnant with my third my oldest was only 25 months old and my daughter was still in an infant carrier. I'd carry my two year old AND the infant seat. You're fine.

Yeah it is fine. If you did it before you got pregnant it should be fine now. I pick up my almost 5 year old who weighs 55lbs.

My toddler was 30 pounds when i was pregnant, and the doctor told me it was ok. Just be careful. It hurt my back towards the end. but i didnt really have a choice.

I have a friend with a 3 year old that was put on bedrest for her pregnancy. She just sits down to pick her son up instead of picking him up from a standing position. If you have a healthy pregnancy then it shouldn't be a problem, but try sitting first if you're not carrying him around a store or something.

I think it's fine. Ask your doctor if you're extremely worried though, to be safe.

OT, but OP, I LOVE your Avi, I crack up every time I see it!

Haha, I wasn't supposed to pick up anything over 15lbs for this pregnancy. I have a 35lbs son and I live on a small hobby farm so I regularly lift 35-70lbs and have had no issues. However, talk to your doctor. I looked at mine like he was crazy when he said to not lift more than 15lbs and then looked at my son. He laughed and said "Ok, ok, within reason... I can't tell you not to pick up your son, but just be careful, ok?!"

FYI, I just thought about it. I am out of work right now for a laparoscopic surgery because my job description requires 50 lbs lifting (I work in childcare), so they won't let me back for a month.

When I was pregnant with my son I worked til my water broke though and nobody said anything lol.

Also, my DD weighed maybe 20-25 lbs when I got pregnant but closer to thirty by the time I had him and I lifted her the whole time.

When you are super pregnant, be careful because you are already off balance. I was carrying my DD out of a grocery store having a tantrum when I was like 8 months and I fell and she fell from all the way over my shoulder and slammed her head onto the concrete floor. It was horrendous.

But as far as safety for the pregnancy, I am sure it's fine. Many of us have done it before.

You are fine unless told otherwise. My midwife doesn't let me lift over 15 lbs because I have pulled muscles. So that counts out all three of my kids. Lightest is 30 lbs and heaviest is 55.

Thanks for the input, ladies. I just didn't know if it was too risky.

If you lifted him before you got pregnant you can lift him when you are pregnant, but be careful around the end of your pregnancy.
