Losing my MIND!

posted 18th Aug
Okay so this is a bit of a weird question! Long story short, my cat was mauled by a bear 2 weeks ago and became infested with fleas. Because he did not seem to be hurt when he got home,,just covered in foul smelling saliva, we waited a few days to take him into the vet. During these few days he became infested with fleas, now they are EVERYWHERE. It's 3 am and I am going insane! Does anyone know if there is anything I can use that I would have in my house to get them to leave me alone so I can sleep? I am 6 months pregnant today and I have not slept well at all and have been working full time, I NEED some sleep!

Also, does anyone know if it is ok to use a flea bomb in my house while being pregnant. The chemicals tend to linger in the air for a while, so I don't know if I should get one and use it tomorrow. I HAVE to get rid of these things though or I am going to lose my MIND!

I wouldn't flea bomb because of the chemicals. You can try diatomaceous earth, its a natural bug killer that is safe to be around when pregnant you just shouldn't inhale it, its a powder that you can sprinkle around and even apply directly to your dog.

You can use a flea bomb you'll just have to let the house air out a good bit before you go back in.

Yeah I thought that was a bit odd also, I also thought it was strange that it would become flea infested from such an incident a couple days later. Maybe she was embarrassed that she has a flea infested cat and was looking for an excuse? I don't know but animals get fleas, it happens.

Oh I'm not doubting the fleas, I know they are HORRIBLE to get rid of. I just have never read anything like that before, lol.

Oh no, I didn't mean it like that. I just meant maybe she is looking for an excuse because she is embarrassed of the infestation but anyone who has had a pet knows that fleas are out there, so she shouldn't be worried about just admitting her cat has fleas if the story isn't exactly the truth.

Um obviously you are not from B.C. Bears are EVERYWHERE here and yes they DO maul animals. They are actually know to kill cats or dog, but other times they will just toss the animal around while it is in shock.
Also, bears have FLEAS, they live in the WILD. How long do you think it takes for an animal to become infested with fleas? lol WOW. I'm sorry but I am 31 yrs old, I don't play little games, I would not make up a story about a BEAR of all things mauling my cat, especially at 3 o'clock in the morning.

THANX

I'm not from BC, that's why my mind was blown. We don't even have bears where I live, so hearing that was like O.O

If the cat was covered in nasty saliva and you know that bears carry fleas why did you not give the cat a flea dip as a precaution???

We didn't know they carry fleas and we didn't know it was a bear at first. He had gone missing for a day and a half and when he came back my neighbor informed me he was under there deck and there was a bear in our yard the night before. The VET was the one that put 2 and 2 together. I didn't realize this information I was requesting was going to involve giving someone every detail of what happened. Would you like to know the date and time too? ;)

It just seems like using common sense would have prevented this, and I am also pretty sure it would take more than a couple days for a flea infestation to occur since flea eggs take that long just to hatch. I just think there is something off about your story, not everyone has to believe everything they see on here. And you didn't know they carry fleas???
"Also, bears have FLEAS, they live in the WILD."
You sure act like that is common knowledge now, but I guess the vet had to school you on that one also.

Mental! Flea bomb but stay at a friend or families house for a few days.
