Its getting soooo much better!!!

posted 17th Aug '12
So Ive recently posted about how my LO doesnt stay asleep with naps and bedtime and how its has became reliant on me nuring him to sleep everytime and had a lot of trouble falling asleep.
Well after reading two different things, No cry sleep solution, and Sleep sense Ive figured out what it was I was doing wrong, like putting him to bed around 11pm thinking he would sleep more if he was tired. The problem was he was over tired and thats why he would have trouble going down.

So today, this is what his sleep schedule looked like,
wake at 7am
up til 9am then he went down for a nap.
Woke up at 11:15am stayed up til 1:30pm
Slept til about 3:30pm and was up until about 10 mins ago, 5pm
I plan on putting him down for bed around 8pm
So far Ive seen a huge change in his behavior all day, hes been happy and hardly cried at all. Hes pooped 3 times today! I can just tell he feels good. I feel good because of that.
The only thing is he WILL NOT go to sleep without his binkie in his mouth. He will literally be almost asleep but will still cry until the binkie goes in and once it does hes like instantly out.
I guess I kinda replaced me for a binkie but at least other people can get him down now.

I just had to share the news. I really recommend the free e book of that "No cry sleep solution"
It helped in a matter of a day. Consistency did too.

Aww! Yay! Hope tonight goes well for you.

My son is the same way with his pacifier... But if he didn't have that he would need me to lay with him until he fell asleep every time.   He is REALLY good at taking it out... just working on getting him to put it in.   lol.

That's great! I've found my kids are terrible if they didn't get to sleep at least by 8pm the night before. Way to go figuring out his sleep problem! What a relief!

This sounds exactly like what happened to me within the last couple of days.

She wouldn't nap, she'd just cry her way through the day and always be really grumpy and we couldn't figure out why. If she was tired, she'd sleep, right? It was wierd, she wouldn't rub her eyes and everyone said that that's how you knew a baby was ready for sleep and if you put them to sleep early or gave unnecessary they wouldn't sleep at night.

But then I just said "Screw everyone, she's a baby, she needs nap, and she's not sleeping at night anyways!!"

So she's been taking two naps a day, and more if she needs them... And it's the third night in a row she's nursed herself to sleep at night in less than 15 minutes.

She still wakes up a smurffon at night though.

Is it working for you also?
Mine is still fighting going down for naps and bedtime, but only for like 5 mins now and he eventually just gives up and passes out. But hes gotta have that binkie in his mouth.
He actually just woke up from only an hour of sleep, and I think its cause the binkie fell out. Put it back in and he was right out again. SIGH

Yea my daughter use to be able to fall asleep in her swing by herself but for the last 3 days all she wants is to nurse until she falls asleep for both naps & bedtime.. She also won't take a paci what so ever so all she gets is me. Plus she was sleeping almost through the night till she hit 3 months & then she was up every 2 hours & now she is still doing it. It sucks some nights but I'm use to it by now lol.. Also if you nurse him to sleep or naps I would try to lay down with him I know that helps my daughter better to fall asleep.

I've always put H down at 8. Sometimes 9 if we're out and get home late. And she sleeps from there right through until 6/7am. I learned very quickly that with babies, putting them down late isn't always best. She puts herself to sleep now, she's been doing it since she was 3 months old, she's now 6 months old.(: So glad you got it figured out!!!

This is such and old threat but do you mind sending me the e-book? I am so desperate for my baby to get his sleep in order.

I can't wait to be able to sit and read that book! I have it but I didn't do any of the night logs or anything. I've been trying some tips like prolonging his naps and putting him to bed earlier - I was putting him to bed around 11 too but now I try to get him down by 9, Sometimes I think it's working and sometimes it totally doesn't. But I haven't tried the whole plan yet. You're giving me hope though lol.
