My doctor didn't check until I was 38 weeks. Maybe yours will wait till then too.

Really?!? Do you want to be induced? That's strange...at least for my provider (Kaiser CA). They already told me they won't induce until I'm nearing 42 weeks...unless there's a reason to. I'm sure I could request it. But they want the baby to stay in till it's ready to come out, for the most part. My friend was due October 23rd & had her daughter on November 7th. She was induced on November 6th (exactly 2 weeks past her due date). She also has Kaiser CA.

I'm scared of being induced. I've heard that it hurts much worse.

Not true. I was induced with my first 4 days past my DD and will probably be induced with this one a week before my DD. There are lots of deciding factors in induction.....not just because the mother wants to.

No, they actually don't check. It's their policy. Thank god.

Interesting. I guess with this being my first, I'm anxious to know if I'm dilated and I don't really know how to check myself (I head you can do that?). But it is uncomfortable.

It's nice to know, but it doesn't mean a thing. I could be 4cm right now but not go into labor for another 4 weeks. So, since it doesn't tell you if labor is near at all, I'd rather not have someones fingers in my vagina checking it. I'll find out what I'm at when I'm in labor, that's when it will matter.
My drs at my other place I went with my first checked at 39 weeks, to see if I was dilated or not because if I was they were going to set up an induction at 40 weeks (if I didn't go on my own by then) if I wasn't dilated they were going to make me go to 42 weeks. Which I was all for and refused the induction, luckily she came on her DD.

It sucked. & it was AFTER my due date  

Uhh, I know Im due the 15th and all but I feel like this baby is NEVER coming! My cervix was so high my dr couldn't even reach it! My contractions (BH) have been nuts as close as 3 mins and as long as 1 min long. Going nuts.. uhhhh & my babysitter planned her kids birthday the day after I am due so If I happen to go into labor that day I have no babysitter. The stress is getting to me. It was so much easier when I had a date to pinpoint ( Both boys where c-sections) and look at. Now I have anytime in the month of March pretty much since Im due in the middle! uhhhh

I'll be close to 42 weeks by the time my induction date does come so its about right...

That's good to know!!! Any upgrade is always a good thing. Hopefully your LO can come home very soon.

Update for me, plug broke 2 days ago, no further progression though   DD is in 5 days. I'm hoping my LO comes soon..... I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Oh. You said the induction would be next week (?) and according to your profile, we're due on the same day, so that's why I was confused.

My plug came out Monday night. I have an appt today, so we'll see if there's any other progression. My DD is in 6 days, so about the same.

My daughters old nanny, her daughters bday party is on the 23, when I'm due. She keeps hassling me to come or to just have DH drop DD off at the party. Her daughters 4th bday is the LAST thing on my mind right now. Even if I'm still pregnant on the 23rd, I have family coming in town.

I meant to say they're gonna set me up with my date next week
