Uhhhh. I would be pissed the smurf off. I'm not into pink, princessy smurf either. Thank god I plan my own baby showers, idgaf if it's tacky.

I'm sorry you're going through that.. sad to say most times you really dont have say so with the shower (thats why I always refused to have one) and on the plus side whatever they get you that you don't like you can always take it back or exchange it.
Having girls aren't too bad.. I have two.. I dress them in jeans and blue a lot..they just grow up how they want to.. like some boys I know like pink and stuff.. they are who they are.. and once you hold the little one in your arms or see so hold them the first time with a silly smile on his face.. gender doesn't matter anymore..
Try to relax and dont let people affect you.. you're mom.. youre the one that's going to be taking care if her.. everyone else's opinions just doesn't count or matter

I think that is really rude of them. Growing up i was a huge tomboy same as you i played with hotwheels and in the mud i hated dressing up still do and when i would have to wear a dress i went and got in the mud just so i could take it off. I know your feeling. My first was a girl and i was scared because i didnt know how to raise a little girl and connect with her because my mind was all about boy things growing up my friends were boys and i did boy things. Needless to say my daughter is now 5 and i am still not the dressy kind of person but she is. she became a girly girl by herself (im sure with the influence of cartoons and cousins). Anyway my point is you will do just fine. and like someone else said there is Nothing wrong with a tomboy (in my opinion its better to have a tomboy you dont have to worry as much about their teenage years and boys lol). anyway i think that the pirate princess theme is awesome i hate girly colors and despise pink but i think that sounds awesome. I told my DH no matter what the baby is my only theme is green and brown woodsie things. I like my outdoors and he is a hunter so it works for us. If your friends and mom cant accept that then thats their loss not yours. bottom line its your baby not theirs and its your choice in the end. sorry didnt mean to make this so long just wanted to put my opinion out there on this subject.

I could really use a hug! Today has not been good. I am so stressed over the cardiologist appointment on the 19th for my baby. The last couple days have been easier, but today it seems so hard to stay positive. The doctor seemed confident about at least one surgery being needed. The first one possibly happening almost as soon as my son is born before I can bring him home.

*hug*

I know nothing I say can really ease your fears, and I have no idea what it feels like to go through what you are right now...but I would try my hardest to keep busy. It may seem impossible, but take your kid to a park. Walk the dog (if you have one, of course). Paint a picture with your little one. Just keep busy so your mind can't wander onto these thoughts so often. And remember that the baby can also feel your stress.
