MIL is all paranoid

posted 17th Aug
My MIL has been kind of freaking out today b/c she thinks I haven't been gaining enough weight. I must tell you that I am REALLY overweight. To be totally honest. I'm just short of 300 pounds...I'm also freakishly tall so it balances my proportions out so I don't look completely horrid. Anyways, I wasn't able to go to the doctor until I was around 19 weeks (due to insurance issues) so I'm not totally sure what I weighed before I was pregnant. Thing is, since I've been going to my appointments, I've only gained 6 pounds (gained 10, lost 4 this past month). My doctor hasn't mentioned that it's a problem. And I think what's happening is since I'm eating better, b/c of my little one, I'm losing fat faster than I'm gaining baby weight. I'm not doing it intentionally. When you get to my size and start eating healthy, weight just falls off...I tried explaining this to MIL but she doesn't get it. I think she doesn't completely understand just how much I actually weigh. I've never told her and people are normally shocked when I tell them my actual weight. Here's a pic of me about 4 months before I got pregnant...at around 290ish

Do you think that I should have gained more weight by now, or do you think this is completely normal??? *30 weeks*

A lot of women who are around your weight actually lose weight while pregnant.

As long as baby is growing on track, there should be no concern. A lot of women who are even a little overweight don't gain much and may even lose weight.

You do carry your weight very well! I would never have guessed your weight correctly!

Yes normal. Ive only gained seven lbs and its all baby. I worried to but my doctor said it is okay and normal for someone who is over weight to only gain a few pounds or none at all. They estimated my baby at five lbs two weeks ago....so all baby no real weight gain here.

I was 55 kgs before I got pregnant and I have only put on like 10 kgs, im 35 weeks, my midwife didn't say anything was wrong. As long as bubba is healthy and growing properly, who cares. If you and your midwife dont have a problem dont worrie what anyone says.

It's normal for overweight women. As long as you're eating healthy and eating enough, you are fine. You certainly shouldn't eat bon bons just to gain.

I'm only 22 weeks, and i've lost 10 pounds. I started out at 250. Bigger women do tend to lose some fat, but the baby is still healthy. Just make sure you are taking the prenatals!

Yeah I had TERRIBLE morning sickness for 2 months straight, so that also probably has something to do with it. I didnt even think of that..
