My dogs are DRIVING ME CRAZY! (rant)

posted 16th Aug '12
I'm a dog trainer, with three rescue dogs, my mom's dog and my daughter two cats. Every since I got pregnant I HATE my dogs and I never much liked the cats (haha j/k), I hate their smell, I hate their drool, I hate their need to be fed and watered, and most of all I HATE their hair. The hair is everywhere I sweep and sweep and there is still more hair! I don't know if I never noticed or if this year they are just shedding more then usual. I keep brushing them out, though I have to admit their baths are not as regular as usual since my DH is out of town, but it seems like I brush them til there couldn't possible be anymore shedding, yet the next day my floor has hair all over it.

Everything about them gets on my nerves, when they are laying in the middle of the floor, when they drip water on the floor. I even felt super relieved when my doc told me I probably should put off working with dogs til after the baby (balance issues and I specialize in aggressive behavior). But now since the BH have started my old man (9y/o rottie mix) is under my feet and sleeping right next to my bed so I am tripping over him. I know this is because he is concerned about his owner but the pregnant woman in me wants to jump up and down and scream at him. My husky mix is sleeping by the play yard waiting for the arrival so every time I need to walk by I have to run her off. She was super protective of my daughter when she was a baby so it's not really a surprise but it's annoying. And my 2 y/o rottie keeps nudging my belly. I could use a little more attention from my human family and a little less attention from my four-legged family.

I'd never get rid of them, though I have threatened time and time again since I got pregnant. When I move something and there is hair, I groan in frustration and the dogs get up and run out the doggy door like "Oh no, she's going to blow everyone RUN!" My friend even mentioned the way they walk past me with their head down makes it look like I've been beating them. Which of course I haven't, I think they are all just walking on egg shells cause they feel my frustration which is directed at them.

It will be over in time and all those smurffy hormones will go back to normal eventually. Hopefully you won't kill the dogs before then. (Just kidding, I know you wouldn't do that)

Haha I was ready to throw our dog into the street when I was pregnant. He's a big puss to begin with but he was little attached to my hip while I was pregnant. And if he could hear/know where I was but could be next to me, like on our bed since it was too high, he would whine constantly. I was so ready to snap. Then the baby came and I didn't give a smurf anymore haha

That's a relief and really funny (I know it wasn't funny to you though) thanks for making me smile. I am really hoping to return to my normal animal loving self. With my first daughter nothing changed, in fact that's how I ended up with the first cat. Cause I am NOT a cat person but I wanted a kitten so bad while I was pregnant with her, funny she turned out to be a total cat person.

Maybe this one won't like animals...She will be SOL though cause I'm a trainer her daddy is a dog daycare manager and we always seem to have a zoo.
