prozac

I am trying to go off Prozac. I have 4 children and work a full time job in a preschool! I have recently been having anxiety issues and feel like I need to take my Prozac. I am sooooo scared of what it can do to my baby. I have heard both good and bad things. Please give me any info!

I just got put on prozac a couple of months ago. My doc said it was one of the safest ones to take during pregnancy.

I was taking Prozac before I got pregnant and I asked the Dr if it was safe to take while pregnant and he said it was. I stopped it anyway just because my depression wasn't severe enough to keep me on it. Just a quick call to your Dr and I'm sure they would let you know.

spoke with Dr and all he said was that there isn't much evidence of birth defects. That on a scale of A,B, C Prozac is a B.

It's just one of those things where you have to decide if you need it to function, you should probably keep on it.

Did you drop your amount? I am currently taking 40 mg.

No I didn't, I only take 20mg. My dr said is was the safest during pregnancy, and if you have depression problems, this is def. not the time to stop your meds, with all hormonal changes and stuff going on. She did tell me if I had been taking paxil she would have changed me to Prozac.

Good I am glad, You should def. discuss with you dr if your concerned, but from everyone I have spoken to about it said its fine. They don't want depression getting out of hand or making life any harder on you now, and especially with PPD now a days. Take care of yourself and little one!! Good luck to you!!!
