Is it common in the US for an OB to take on someone thats due at the time they'll be on holiday?
Why look after someone throughout their pregnancy then just leave them to it with some random when they're due to deliver? Doesnt make sense to me =/
Its just not done like that here-if the LMC (lead maternity carer) that you choose is going to be away at the time of your due date they dont take you on...

Doctor's have lives, too. They always have patients in their care. Always. They would never get a break or vacation if they saw every single one of them through. They almost always have associates or partners they trust and leave their patients to. So, while it sucks for some women...I'd rather them vacation or whatever and not get burned out on work.

i was induced with both my girls. With this baby i went to the same doc that i seen with my second baby. She had moved so I seen her replacement and he was so rude and had bad bedside manners. My husband refused for me to go back. So with that being said I'd go with your gut. After all its your first and you want a good experience with labor. Just know that there are risk to being induced meaning you could end in an emergency c-section.

I was induced and had two heathly vaginal births. Both without epidurals and I loved being induced. Grant it mine were for medical reason. I would love to be induced with this baby as well but I wont unless medical needed.

First, tell your Dr how you feel about the fill in dr. It's your body and you have that right. Second I rarely gain weight the last few weeks but baby is always gaining just fine. I usually lose a few pounds. Not all women do . And really first babies are usually late. Not always but more often than not. But if you are that concerned, ask your Dr for an alternate Dr. It can and has been done. I have thrown morons out of the room and demanded another Dr. It's your body, your baby and your right.

Midwives have back up and planned vacations too...Thats why they dont take on anyone due the same time as they'll be away.
Obviously if someone happens to go into labor at that time they'll have another midwife but its not planned that way.

Well doctors are about money. Thats pretty common sense. They take on a steady flow of patients. My OB had a daughter due a couple weeks after me...unforeseen circumstances like that pop up.
