sun holiday

posted 17th May
me and my husband FINALLY get to honeymoon this Friday and we are SO excited! Ireland is cold and dull so were going to Zakynthos. A gorgeous Greek Island with the most beautiful beaches. I'm just wondering if being in the heat for a long period of time is OK? I know your not supposed to take hot hot baths as the baby cannot control the heat it's in but we can...and we have ways to cool down that our babies don't have yet. Is this the same in sun? I wanna get my belly nice and tanned as I feel pale. I'm hoping I'll look like Nicole Richie when she was prego (I thought she looked super cute) but don't wanna be worried for my baby. Should I be? Is there precautions I should be taking? And another question... it's probobly a realli dumb question, but anyway. Now that my baby is quite big is it ok to fly? I'm worried that it could just pop or something. Like that experiment they did on the packet of crisps?! I was too embarassed to ask my doctor that! I'm just wondering if it could burst a blood vessel or something?!

I got back from florida about 2 weeks ago and it was crazy hot down there and I was fine. You should have your doctor or midwife make a copy of your records just in case anything should happen on the plane but you really dont have to worry about traveling until you're further along. Laying in the sun is fine and you'll know if you're getting too hot.

Everything I have read about flying pregnant says that it's perfectly fine to fly up until 36 weeks (as long as you have a healthy, normal pregnancy). About the sun thing, I think it's okay to lay out as long as you can find shade easily and drink plenty of water while you're out there. Just don't over heat yourself, if you feel too hot take a break.
