Is it really all that serious

is it nessecary to get your son circumcised? (sp) do people get it done more for health or cosmetic reasons. Im really not sure if i wan't to get it done to my son if it really isn't needed, those of you ladies thathad it done was it health or cosmetic meaning you dont want him being teased when he gets older because he "looks differnt "

We just talked about htat in lamaze. It is not necessary. If you don't want to don't. However they did say that circumsized men are at a decreased risk for std and some cancers. I think just because the extra skin isn't there to harbor bacteria and such.
It is really your decision.

I think its a hygiene issue. At least for me.Its alot harder to keep clean and plus thet have to pull it back when they get older to "do it".I dont like to thing about my sweet boy ever "doing it" but I thought itd be in his best intrest to get it done.

I didn't get it done because I personally don't see any reason to, medical or otherwise.. My hubby is uncircumsized and is always in good health.. The only problems he's ever had concerning his genitals is when he was in the field or in combat, where you can't really keep that great hygiene.. But he's very meticulous about keeping it clean otherwise, and as long as you keep up with that then you should be golden..
I also see it as, I don't do it to my daughters.. so why should my son endure it?
Furthermore, I'm going to tell my son that if he's getting randy with a girl and she starts freaking out once she sees his penis that he needs to drop her like a hot tamale cause maybe she's been around a bit too much - I say this though in the hopes that he's not some kind of womanizer and has a very low amt of sexual partners.. oh well.. one can hope

There is no major medical association that recommends getting it done anymore.
We did not get my son circumsized.

lol - you don't have to pull anything back to "do it" - If he's aroused enough, it'll retract on it's own..

I had my son's done for hygienic purposes mainly. I had an ex who wasn't snipped and he hated it. He called it high maintence and siad alot of females were put off by it...truthfully so was I

if i do get it done it would be for a hygenic reason, but my sons dad told me to get it done for cosmetic reasons " he dosnt want his son being teased by girls " ...that is stupid to me i would be more worried about him getting STDs or infections

I'm only getting my son circumsized for health issues..its not necessary but I heard its healthier

I had to really, really think about it when I had my son..I decided to get it done for health reasons..If I didn't get it done and it got infected or something..I'd feel horrible..That's JMO though.

do you just teach your son how to pull the skin back and clean it ?

I would strongly encourage any mother who is having a son to research it. I thought for sure that I was going to get it done (every male in my family and my husband's family is circumsized, so I thought 'why not?').
Research it before you make the decision. You may be surprised.

I am having my first boy and that is something that I've had to think about and research alot. We have decided to have it done so that he doesn't feel different than anyone else and also health reasons. It is a mostly personal thing to decide so just go with whatever you want. I found that there are pros and cons either way and there is no "right answer"...just do what you think is best.

If I have a boy I'll have my son circumsized.
My decision is mainly cosmetic.
