Cloth diapers?

posted 16th Aug
So, I know very little about cloth diapers. I've glanced at a few sites but it all goes way over my head.

What is your favorite brand? Favorite type?
I'd like the easiest possible.. is that the all-in-ones? Are those super bulky?

Teach me the ways of cloth.

I have pockets from www.luvyourbaby.com site. They are kawaii brand and I love them. They are super easy too. They come with 2 inserts. You shove one or 2 depending on how much your child wets. When you change the diaper then scrape off the poo or if it just pee then toss it in a pail. Pull them apart when you wash and then put them back together when ready to use.

I cloth diaper and I started out with prefolds and cover which in my opinion is by far the easiest because the prefolds wash up so nicely and if baby just pees, you can just wipe the cover down and re-use it. =]

My favorite and BY far best covers are flips. www.cottonbabies.com , they have flips buy 2 get 1 free! The website also has prefolds (indian cotton) that are super inexpensive that you can use with the flips.

I HAAAATTTEEDDD the stay dry flip inserts- I wouldn't waste my time buying those. I would start off with 6 covers and 24 prefolds. How big is your LO?

About a pound.

Thanks for the link! I'll go check it out!

I use happy fluet(mostly becuase they were very cost friendly)but they work great! No leaks or stains! They are pockets so they pull the wetness away from baby! and thats my fav part! I am looking into all in ones and maybe prefolds(they seem like they take more work though) I think bummis looks good and probley going to get some! lol I got mine from ebay but target has them!!!

I'm not really a fan of pockets because its so much laundry and stuffing and unstuffing- the only plus is they dry fast. ALL in one diapers take FOREVER to dry.

Also check out nickisdiapers.com, the imagine baby products are awesome! For newborns I think the easiest option is AIOs, but once they start to get a little bigger I preffered prefolds with a cover. The only pockets I used are rumparooz and they are quite expensive. I also have some WAHM A12s and fitteds =]

check out the OP here...a TON of information about the different types
http://forum.baby-gaga.com/about2234581.html

Honestly, everyone has their own favs and most recommend trying a little bit of everything before buying all of 1 type to see what you like.

I think I might do the newborn rental program from this sight. www.justsimplybaby.com It's expensive to buy a bunch of NB cloths that they outgrow fairly quickly. So you can do a 6, 12, or 18 week rental. Then if you want to keep them you do, if you dont then you send them back for a 50% refund. I think its a pretty good deal. Then that will give me time to try different brands during that time to see which ones I want to use. I am going to buy a few different ones that look like what I am looking for (I really want pockets that have many snaps for one size use, and reverse snaps on the flaps so that I can wrap them snugger if need be). Then when the baby gets bigger i'll start trying out the stash I buy when I'm preg and decide which ones I am going with. Some I might try, JSB, sunbaby, and glowbug. i'm still researching different kinds as well. and I might buy a few prefolds and covers. But right now I really like the idea of pocket one size diapers. But who knows, my mind could change once I actually start doing it. So we'll see.

I am just learning myself and have an AIO (all in one) coming soon to try out before I buy more. AIO's sound the best IMO but I haven't experienced using them so we shall see.

I have alvas... for the money they were my best option at the time. I got 50 for a little over $200. Come to find out? I HATE POCKET DIAPERS! So now I'm going to sell them off and start over. I can't stand stuffing them constantly... drives me bat smurf crazy. I'm going for AIO's this time around.

I used fuzzibunz a few times with my youngest.I liked them. For number 4 I just purchased gigglelife cloth diapers last night. (249.99 for 38 diapers and 76 inserts). They are one size pocket diapers.I was leary about buying them because it is normally hit or miss with cloth diapers (so I've heard) but after reading reviews on FB and watching youtube videos and reading blogs I figured it was a good buy.

I went to this post and opened mostly the bottom ones that said they were great product and diapers and they are sooooo cute. some dont have stuff added right now though so I saved them just in case because I did like the few that were on there. The ones I liked the best for the pockets were...
REALLY nice looking:
Bear monkey bottoms
chunky monkey
Waiting for them to add more stuff:
bunkyfluff
REALLY cool and unique:
J&J

O also they have different package sizes and two different types of diapers (ultra soft and bamboo). $250 was the largest of the ultra soft package
