The point of the account is to get advice on something they dont want attached to their name. If you can't post back respectfully, you should be banned.

I'm on probation and that sucks. I have opinions and smurf I'd like to say on here but I can't because I have to be careful -- meaning, I am respecting my ban and being allowed to return.

I can't even believe this needs a poll, really... it should be a no brainer. Unless in the case of life or death.


ETA and in that case they should not be outed to the whole forum, just certain respected Mods who have the ability or smarts to track them down.

I'm not saying it would be a nice thing to do or something that I would do personally I'm lucky I remember my own kids' names. I feel like there are so many sides to this. That person could have hinted at it in another forum. I may have never read the secrets post and then called her out on it but I get banned because she did make a post about it that I was unaware of.

Well, it should be the same then. Anyone who tries to out someone who used the Secrets account should be banned immediately and forever. I saw where someone said that if people reveal too much that they would give them away, so I think maybe there should be a warning or something that everyone who uses the Secrets account can see that just reminds them to be careful about what they post. The person who gave them away should still be banned, but it may save someone from embarrassment.

i can see how it could turn into a cluster-fudge of allegations if they know each other more intimately.

nonetheless, if it's a BG secrets post -- outing them (intentionally or unintentionally) is a huge dick move.

if they out themself, that's different. we're talking about openly id-ing something that they've tried to keep private.
