Tearing question!!

posted 17th May
This is for a friend of mine currently in the hospital
She said somewhere on here there was athread about tearing and what to wash the area with afterwards. She said the hospital only said to use warm water but she read on here that there's something else you can use.. any ideas?? I couldn't find anything.

You can use Tucks pads (witch hazel) on the area after you have cleaned with warm water to help relieve pain.

I meant to also say they make generic brand witch hazel wipes (like Target) that are about 2-3 bucks a package. You can buy witch hazel in a bottle (usually around the rubbing alcohol in the store) and you can add that to a warm bath to soak the area also.

They told me the same thing after tearing with DS. They also said to use the Tucks pads, even gave me a bunch, but NOT ON THE VAGINAL AREA, only the rectal area. I had 2 in the area once (nurse said to try it for "coverage"), one slipped and hit the vaginal area, IT STUNG BAD!

I tore when I gave birth. I used the bottle they gave me and sprayed with warm water. But hey...I still hurt down there, so maybe I did something wrong.
