Question about breastfeeding & pumps

posted 17th May
Hey all, I actually just have a quick question. i'm getting the medela pump n style advance since I have to go back to work but I'm planning on using the playtex drop in bottles for my son. This may sound so silly but I have no clue since this is my first child, but do i just use the bottle things that come with the pump & then transfer the milk from there to the drop ins? Gosh I feel like an idiot haha!

You can do that.
I used the bottles my pump came with just for storage because my son would never eat out of them.

Yep you can do that! I bought the storage bags too, so I could freeze my breast milk. Those things are awesome!

you can also you the storage bags that you store the milk in for the freezer ect, some are made so u can just use the same bag into the bottle you dont have to put in a drop in, and pour just the bag, it should say on any box of milk storage bags.. 8in bottles, wont work with the 4in

I'm planning on using the storage bags when I start. It just seems like an easy system.

Yeah I think the storage bags are a wonderful idea, especially for working moms! I just registered for a bunch today.

The Lansinoh products are the best out there. Pumps, lanolin, storage bags. All of it is so much better than the other brands, and they're a better value. Their storage bags truly are leak-proof, so long as you use them as directed. You can shake them upside down and they won't leak. They also store flat in the freezer, which gives you more room than storing bags upright. I tried the First Years bags because they worked with the Drop-Ins, but they leak so bad. I didn't even get the bag tilted so it was completely horizontal before the milk leaked through the zipper seal and onto the floor. Not worth it to me just to be able to put the bag in the Drop-Ins nurser. It's just as easy to open the zipper on the Lansinoh bag and transfer to a Drop-Ins liner.

Yeah, the Lansinoh products are kinda the best kept secret in breastfeeding. Everyone is told "Medela this" and "Ameda that," but really, Lansinoh is just as good! The Lansinoh double pump IS the Ameda Purely Yours, only purple and rebranded. All of the parts are the same. So for $150, it's a great deal. I LOVE mine! But hey, if someone bought you the PIS, then that's awesome. I wouldn't argue with that!

yeah I had the lansinoh dual pump on my registry because it was way cheaper than the medela & it got great reviews. Lots of women said it works just as good as the medela, so I was happy with that. But of course since I got the medela as a gift then I can't complain at all lol
