Factor V Leiden

so i got my blood test back and i tested positive for factor V leiden do any of you have this? My Dr said that i only have one gene and not two so i have a 5-10% chance of cloting i am still scared any advice ???

There's actually a girl on here who has it (I think). I was reading her profile earlier, and I think her babies were diagnosed with it. I'll see if I can find her again.

I have Factor 5 as well with two defects. I found this out as I'm adopted and my Dr luckily did some genetic testing. I lost a baby at 7 weeks in Nov and currently pregnant at 5 wks. I wasn't really trying to get pregnant the first time, so I wasn't taking the baby aspirin, extra folic acid or prenatals at that time. I've been religious about taking those since I found out I was pregnant the first time. I will checkout that site. Any other info you have on this is greatly appreciated!

Hey there. I have Factor V Leiden and I'm pregnant with baby #1 (5w3d). I was diagnosed in 2004 after my mother was diagnosed (she had clots from breaking her leg). My brother and I were both tested and I was the lucky one with the positive! I'm heterozygous for Factor V which means I only inherited one of the genes (homozygous is much more risky for clotting). Anyway, my Mom actually had a number of miscarriages when she was trying to conceive (this was before she knew she had this clotting disorder. So to be proactive and do whatever I can to avoid a m/c, I've been on 40mg lovenox shots (blood thinner similar to heparin) once a day since I was 3 weeks along. I've never had a clot so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be OK. I'd love to hear if there are any others out there in early pregnancy who have Factor V...
