abortion and leaking breasts

posted 14th Aug '12
I had an abortion at 13 weeks 1 week ago today. I couldn't figure out why my breasts hurt so much, they are bigger and engorged and then i looked down to see they are leaking. Is that normal? They hurt so bad, what should I do? I have a breast pump, I figured if it got worse I'd just have to pump.

has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks

I didn't have it happen but stimulating it will make it worse. Get some sudafed from the pharmacy to help dry it up and use cold cabbage leaves or ice packs to help with the pain.

Never had an abortion but after my miscarriges my boobs get that way, dont pump if you want it to stop though, pumping will encourage the production. Hope it stops soon for you

I don't know that it's normal just because of how far along you were....but don't pump. If you pump, you'll just produce more. Wear a tight bra, take some sudafed, and if you have to pick up some cabbage leaves to put in your bra.

pumping will not help. you have to let yourself dry up.

You should try cabbage leaves too in your bra. You milk came in. That's all. It doesn't only happen during full term pregnancies. My milk came in when I had my son at 23 weeks too and my cousin lost her baby at 18 weeks and her milk came in. I'm not sure exactly how early you have to be for it to not come in, but I would say probably during the early 1st tri, especially if you breastfed before. Don't pump. That will just make it last longer and be more painful.
