Bed times for 14yo

What time is bedtime for your 14yo during summer break?
What time is bedtime during school?
quoteposted 14th Aug '12
9 pm during school. 10 or 11 in the summer, depending on what we are doing at those times. His mother makes him go to bed at 8 and 9, respectively, but at her house he shares a room with a 10 yr old who gets very cranky with little sleep.

I don't have a 14 year old, but on school break I'd just let them enjoy themselves. Probably 10pm... I don't know. 14 is old enough, it seems, to put themselves to bed when they are tired... if you trust them of course.
During school, I'd say whatever time that would ensure they got at least 9-10 hours of sleep. So, if they are getting up at 6, I'd say they need to be in bed by 8 or 9.

id say about 9-9:30 school days 11 ish on weekend/summer i have a 12 year old, he gos to bed at 9 on school days and around 11 on weekeds sometimes latter. hes a very resposible kid and if he wants to stay up untill 12 playing call of duty on a friday night i dont see an issue, as long as hes not a butthead the next day lol

My 14yo stepson is allowed to stay up until whenever he wants at his moms, so he stay up until 3,4 or 5 am and then sleeps all day. He is only here approx 4 days a month, so when he's here DH lets him do the same as when he is at home. This makes it very difficult for me to get my 5yo to sleep at a decent time, since he wants to be with his brother. Usually 5yo wants to sleep in SS room, and if SS isn't going to bed 5yo will refuse to go to bed until he does.
I know 14 is getting to the point where he should have more freedom, but I think that is just too much freedom, and with school starting in a week, I think they should all be going to bed at a decent time. SS will be here tonight and I have a feeling he will be upset at me because he is going to have to go to bed so I can get 5yo to sleep.

I don't have a 14 year old but when I was 14 my bed time on a school night was 9:30-10. Summer break, we didn't have a bed time. As long as we weren't up at 3am or something

At 14, I had to be in my room by like 9:30 but no lights out time. It was easy though, because I had no TV or computer in my room.

When I was 14 I was allowed to go to bed whenever I wanted really. As long as I wasn't out causing trouble, if I was in the house it wasn't a big deal to my parents. But I usually went to bed around ten

by 14 I was allowed to go to sleep when I wanted, but I knew the consequences if I didnt get up on time. My mama was NOT about to drive me to school.

At 14 you are old enough to go to bed when you are tired. If you stay up too late. You'll learn that lesson the next day
