I am 39 weeks and2 days, due May 21st and at my appt today the doctor set it up for me to be induced this Sunday the 18th, to hopefully have him Monday the 19th and I don't know if I am doing the right thing. I don't know if I am just finally starting to get scared but I am worried that my little boy will be mad that I am making him come out when he isn't ready. I've talked to my husband and he is so excited and thinks we should do it but says that he will be happy with whateverI decide...Problem is, I don't know what to do! What do you guys think???

If you have ANY doubts at all, do not induce before you are overdue. Give your body a chance to go into labor naturally. If you aren't ready for him to come, then the best thing to do is not do it.

There are also risks with induction as well, and you could end up with a c-section. So, if it were me, I'd wait it out.

if you don't get the baby out of you, they start pooping inside of you, if the baby is full term! that happened to me, as gross as it sounds. it's not fun to vacuum that out of you. They have to get the baby out. I felt like "why doesn't my babies want to see me?" my hubby just says that they are too comfy inside me. I love being induced though, as I have wrote in a few threads. People know when your baby is coming, they take off of work, you have the house clean, bags are packed, you can stock up on frozen foods or make casseroles. I even put signs outside my house!!!

You should ALWAYS go to term if you can. NEVER NEVER give such stupid advice. Going overdue can be dangerous, but to term is what your baby needs.

They can expell meconium if they are overdue, but it usually doesn't happen until baby is about two weeks overdue and their body starts working as if it were outside of the womb. Get your facts straight before giving such advice.

What I got from it (and I'm sure other people will too) is if you go to term that can happen and you should induce before you're full term. If that IS what you mean, then I DID read correctly, and I still feel it is stupid, stupid advice.

It's only a few days before his due date and the reason I agreed to it in the first place is because a ton of people on here say they were induced as early as 38 weeks so I figured it was ok?

no, that's not what i meant. Let me word it differently. I've never met a doctor that has wanted to induce before full term. You should never induce labor before full term. Induction is a good thing after a couple of weeks. With each of mine, I was induced 2 weeks after I was full term. Except for one time, they induced me 3 weeks after; which is when my daughter started going to the bathroom inside of me. I'm sorry, I was going between posts, but I would voice my concerns with the doctor. Is there a particular reason he wanted to induce early on?

There is no medical reason...She just said he is completely healthy and there is no reason to wait any longer....

I don't think 2 days earlier is going to make much of a difference in your babies development. If your doctor says it's fine then I'm sure it will be. You could always ask her to make an induction date a few days after your due date if you want. Who knows...u could go into labour before then

I was indeuced at 38 for medical reasons. I would have let my baby come on his own if I had a choice....thats just the way its supposed to be. But whatever you decide...you should ask for an amino. , I got one with my baby before I was induced to make sure the lungs were mature. I am sure as close as you are that your baby would come out healthy. But I have heard it takes longer for boys lungs to mature, and I seen it says your having a boy. But I am also one of the girls that dont agree with induction at all unless its for medical reasons. Life is too precious to risk anything and babys come when they are ready. JMO

Thank you. Induction is unnecessary and a very selfish thing unless it is absolutely NEEDED for the baby's survival (or mother's as well.) I think it is seriously misused by many people for their own selfish needs. It annoys me to no end.
