Im almost 37 weeks and still havent tried anything. I thought about it on a bad pregnancy day..but stick it out..its worth the wait. The safest thing is accupressure though..its natural with no side effects. Nothing is going to work if your body isnt ready for labor though. You will just be torturing yourself.

i havent TRIED it but it was a huge consideration. However, i talked to my doctor about it and he said he wouldnt do it. All the wives tales may HELP but nothing will truly get labor started until your body and the baby is READY!!

all its supposed to do is soften your cervix like semen does and start dilation...

i am due 4 days after her and I turn 34 weeks tomorrow....meaning that she is 34 and some odd days .....lol. I would not even consider trying to have the baby on purpose yet! lol not a great idea.

I have a friend who just had to have her baby by emergency c section at 28 weeks so letting baby take its time if you can gets my vote
To the op... my midwives told me to not start taking the evening primrose oil or the red raspberry leaf tea till 36 weeks at the earliest. It won't induce your labor(like devons_mommy said) it just helps your cervix soften.

I don't know about the oil but give it a couple of weeks anyway... I'm due more than three weeks before you and trust me I understand the desire to get things over with but if you give birth now the baby WILL be put in ICU for at least aMONTHand will have all sorts of risks of respitory problems and digestive problems. please wait until you are at LEAST 37-38 weeks to try anything. I've been having contractions since 31 weeks and it's just been in the last week that I've stopped trying actively to avoid things that get contractions started. I'm ready for him to come out and the OB has given the green light for him to come IF HE COMES ON HIS OWN. But if I had gone into full labor prior to 36 weeks they were going to try to stop it.

is it true that semen softens your cervix?

in a couple weeks I am expected to have this baby (yeah, early... but I have already started to soften and dialate) but I will have my husband do induction massage.
That actually works wonders.
You have to find a prenatal massage therapist who knows induction massage to get it though... And unless you are married to one, it can be pricey... I know my husband charges like $80 an hour for it right now, and its a steal. It used to be $110.
He dropped his prices to encourage more clients to induce (even though he did a couple every month) he wanted the extra practice for me
