Staff infection on 2 yrs old butt.

I have a question. My niece has a staff infection on her butt. I guess its really bad my mom says. This is like the 3rd time she has had a staff infection on her butt. Her dad is my brother who passed away before she was born so its just her mom who cares for her.... My question is why is she getting this infection on her butt?? Is it from not being clean or is she getting it from someone or something? I would hate to think her mom isn't washing her like she should be but honestly I just don't know about her sometimes. We aren't close we talk but not a lot. She was a pill and heroin addict before she got pregnant and I'm pretty sure she used when she was pregnant with my niece. I'm just worried my niece isn't being taken care of properly.

Staph is found on our skins if there is any type of cut or opening and can get infected.especially diaper areas

It happens with kids and they can be re accruing. Also depends on if it's common in the community. My daughter didn't get one untill we moved to VA Beach and the doctor said it was common out there. There's a lot of different factors she was on a liquid antibiotic, a cream and a wash. I wash her twice a month with the wash to make sure it doesn't come back.
I wouldn't chalk it up to her kid being dirty lord knows ima neat freak but things happen

Staph is on everyone. If someone gets a small cut, or even a rash, it can turn into staph.
It doesn't mean she's not being washed. My daughter has had so many staph infections on her bottom, I lost count. It all started with a simple rash. It's been to the point that she was missing 1-3 layers of skin.
She's been on antibiotics, but that just gave her yeast. We do creams, 3 to be exact. Also, someone should give your niece a bleach bath. 1/2 cup of bleach for a tub full. It pulls out the bacteria.
Sbut please don't think its because she's not being washed. I'm sure her mother feels horrible to begin with. The added thought of people thinking she's a bad mother will not help.

my daughter had a stapf infection on her leg. I am meticulous and keep my kids nice and clean. It can happen to anyone anywhere there is an open wound/ scratch. I doubt it is because the mother doesnt clean her however i would wonder why she keeps getting in on her booty? Maybe she never thoroughy got rid of the staph infection. If the meds arent given correctly just one time it can affect the entire course, and the have to be finished. as well you are supposed to keep that area dry and bandaged with special ointment. That seems like it would be very difficult in the diaper area. I hope she gets better soon!

Because butts rub against the diaper leaving the skin raw and can cause a small opening
