Diapers covered by medicaid (special needs only)

Just wanted to let all you mothers of disabled children know this (because your Medicaid isn't going to tell you).

If your child with special needs/disabilities is over the age of 3 years old Medicaid might pay for diapers through a prescription if the reason your child is not potty trained may be because of the disability. This will save you a lot of money since we know most of us have to pay for all kinds of therapies, gear for their conditions, special private schools, and doctor bills...

If u have mediciad u should not be paying doctors bills even with SN child they pay for it as long as u have a referral

Not if you go over the amount of visits allowed and the doctor refuses to file a plan of care form for extra visits.

I should know ...

I currently owe $3500 in ER visit bills and $200 to the pediatrician.

That doesn't seem right at all. My son's been on Medicaid for his SN's since he was 6 months old and I've never paid a dime for his medical care/equipment/therapies.

I also don't have a limit of times I can see the Dr either. I'd be fighting that if I were you.

But I knew about the diapers, as my son gets them. Very few people know about them though!

It really isn't right at all but Medicaid in Mississippi only gives her 6 ER visits a year (she goes about 15 or more a year) and 10 sick visits. Her Medicaid started over for a new year in July and she already used 4 of the visits so now she has 2 left

I have to agree with this!!! My friends baby is a micro preemie and she has never ever paid a dime... I was also a high risk pregnancy my U/s were 2500 each i bill over every month by my first u/s all i had to do was call the billed dept and they took care of it. My daughter was born with 2 holes in her heart and they tried to bill me for her u/s and eco in the hospital i call them and they took care of it. My son is also going to be in speech therapy as soon as they have a spot for him.

Are u sure its for kids because here its for adults only... the kids can go as much as they want u need to call medicaid and talk to them.

I did call but they said there was nothing they could do. The doc tried filing the plan of care afterward and nothing was taken care of an the ER said they can't file a plan of care because it was an emergency...

medicaid goes back 6 months so u need to speek to someone above whoever u spoke with or call the medicaid options number as they handle all of that.

Yes I called Medicaid 3 times the same day asking them if there was any other way an why she didn't get more visits now that she is on disability medicaid and they told me there was nothing they could do and "that's all they cover ma'am"

is it CMS?? If so u need to call ur nurse.

I will try anything to get these bills taken care of because I sure don't have the money. I just wanted others to know about the diapers cause that is helping a lot. My daughter starts speech school soon which Medicaid will cover the speech therapy there and the occupational therapy but I have to pay tuition of $450 and $65 a month for her lunches. After that and groceries her disability check is gone.

I'm not sure what CMS is. I may be having problems also because her pedi office has never had a special needs child under their care until my daughter was sent there
