If you were a young mom

If you had your baby when you were in high school or shortly after graduating how did you friends react? Are they still around now that your LO is here or did they disappear?

I had my daughter when I was 19. By then, I wasn't really talking to that many people from high school anyway. Just 3 good friends. One of them became pregnant while I was 4 months and the other two adore my kids. We're all still good friends.

I told a few people, the one who was the best was my friend kayla. She went shopping with me and put together a "what your baby is doing" book for me. She did not stay super close with me, but has sent me baby gifts. we talk occasionally but not like we used to. she moved away so that was expected. But really, I had no friends that hung out with me until my 2nd was born and I met mothers.

I didn't really have too many friends to beginning with. I was already a year into college when I got pregnant. But I didn't tell anyone until after 25 weeks. I only told 2 of my friends. The one's that I told were excited. I was living in Philly but moving back home. My one friend was living on her own up here and the other friend's mom was living up here but she was going to college in NJ. Both my friends ended up moving and now I don't hear much from them. When they come up they'll hang out with their other friends first. I kind of got used to be lonely but now since BD doesn't want anything to do with me I can't really handle the loneliness anymore.

This!

Drinking and drugs are cooler than a friend with a baby.

I'm 32 now, I was the first of all my friends to have children and had my oldest when I was 19, almost 20...but by that point I really only had a couple of friends that mattered, and I'm still in contact with all of them, and ended up marrying my best friend after I divorced my ex. The way I see it, if your friends bail on you when your pregnant/had a child, then they weren't very good friends to begin with. The 3 people who have stood by me I've known most of my life, and I'm thankful every day that they're in my life...they are definitely worth keeping <3

I can't wait to go back to college. I'm taking classes 2 days a week on campus. But at the same time I know I won't make many friends. I live way to far away to hang out with anyone plus when people hear you have a baby they assume you can't ever go out and if you do you get looked down on. Most people don't realize I have a big family that want me to make friends and love to spend time with LO.
