I'm getting an IUD inserted in 2 weeks. I've heard from a few people that they'll felt uncomfortable in the beginning, but these people also hadn't had children either. Since I've had 2, I'm not so worried... but you never know.

Just a question, are you planning on breastfeeding? While there isn't extensive scientific evidence that hormones can negatively affect your child, birth control with hormones could affect your milk supply. Over here everyone is told that they CAN'T receive any birth control with hormones if they're breastfeeding.

I may have joined too late, but I have Mirena and it did not hurt at all to go in. It's also estrogen-free so you want to breastfeed it shouldn't/won't effect your breastmilk.

No you're not too late Im still open for replies! I really did want to try mirena but since I heard that it's uncomfortable it kinda made me think and then I also think that Yaz sounds good but then I worry that I might forget or something omg I really don't know it's so hard especially b/c I would like to breastfeed and I didn't know that some BC could have an effect.

I know what you mean. My neighbor got it and told me it hurts like a mofo going in and that she got a grapefruit sized cyst on her ovary and had to have Mirena taken out, etc etc.

BUT...she hadn't had a kid when she had it put in. My doc described it like this. Someone who hasn't had a child has a very small, non-stetchy cervix which may make Mirena insertion more painful than a woman who's had a baby, esp when that women gets it inserted shortly after birth b/c the cervix is still kinda stretched.

Anywho. I got it done and it went fine. That, and, it's a good 5yr option for someone breastfeeding.   You should opt for it imo.

Omg a cyst a size of a grapefruit? Damn that must of sucked!!!

I remember that when I was hospitalized and we weren't sure what was going to happen to meor to the baby I had said that I wouldn't like to go through another pregnancyb/c of all that I'vebeen through but the doctors told me that they were doing their best to get me well and to keep the baby in longer and healthy and they told me that permanent BC is not an option for me and my family agrees they say that one day I will want another baby and that the second is always easier but I know that I don't want to think about another pregnancy a for a good while. And well BC for 5 years does seem pretty good, I just wonder what if I find it uncomfortable will they let me get it out and use another type of BC asap? Hmm.. Im going to have to ask him till Thursday! Well, thanks so much!
