Scared

posted 16th May
Ok so this is going to sound really whimpish, but I am terrified of giving birth. It's almost time for Harmony to be here and I'm freaking out! I just got done bawling my eyes out to my husband! I know that when the time comes I'll have a different mind set...but right now I'm just really scared and am trying to calm down so I don't freak myself out too much. Reassurance sure would be nice now.

Thanks, ladies! Sometimes I think..."Ah..there's no reason to worry...I'm going to be fine.." and then I think..."This babies gotta come out somehow...I'm not ready, I'm not ready!!!" Lol! And yeah, I know it's too late to turn back no, and there's no way I would...I'm just extremly nervous...especially because even if I wanted an epideral...I can't have one...=( I already have really bad back problems...But I've decided even if they can I'm going to try to go natural...maybe I'll tolerate stadol....but damn...I won't even take tylenol when I have a headache now...so...who knows...I'm just....ahhh!!!!

My advice...Don't listen to anyone elses terrifying birthing stories. Everyone is different. I was scared to death and I finally got over it when my midwife told me..."You're 9 cm dilated...I'll be right back, get ready to push"!! It was the BEST experience that I have ever had and I wish I could do it again. I probably wont have anymore kids due to a chromosome defect in myself. But it's soooo worth it!!!

I think it's pretty normal to be worried/scared about giving birth. I'm the biggest wuss when it comes to pain, papercuts make me cry! But being in labor and giving birth was honestly not that bad. I did have the epidural, but I had no meds at all for 10 hours. I would do it all over again if I could, it was an amazing experience.

It's seriously not that bad.I was flipping out the last 2months of my pregnancy...But when the time came I was so calm it was rediculous.I had a panic attack when they told me I had to have a c-section.That's the only thing I freaked out on.But it was for no reason. Not that bad at all.

First, remind yourself that labor does NOT last forever. There will be pain, and it will end.

Secondly, remember that the pain is NEVER as bad as you lead yourself to believe. When some women think about labor...they think about unbearable pain and probably even think it will kill them. But if you think it's that bad, when you give birth...you'll think..."Oh man..that was nothing like I expected." It's not unbearable, because we bare it. We stick it out until it's over, every time.

Don't forget your options though. There are lots of medications offered for laboring women. Don't let labor scare you into getting it, until you're IN labor and you're sure you want it.

labor is the easy part. its being pregnant that sucks. contractions hurt but theyre bearable, and if you get an epidural (whichi did) it's amazing, i really enjoyed my birthin experience, i wasnt in any pain. and the epidural does not hurt at all. they numb you, you dont feel anything.

i was scared to death as soon as i got the date for my inducement....just knowing exactly when he would be here but honestly once i was there and everything..it wasnt as bad as everyone had said! and i did it w/o ANY pain meds....so just relax it will all be okay!!
