LO will be 5 months on the 14th . This past month hes always been fussy so yesterday I looked at his gums. He has 4 white spots along them, 2 up and 2 down but it's not the front teeth it's the one next to them. His gums looks something like this ( it's a google pic)

Looks & sounds like it. Both of my kids had 2 teeth at 6 months.
I wouldn't do oragel..my kids would throw up from it. We always did teething tablets & tylenol if the teething tablets didn't work.

What are teething tablets? I can never find the. My LO loves the oragel and gets excited when we pull it out.

teething tablets help with the pain a fussiness of teething. you can use hylands ( they have belladonna) or there is a brand called humphrey's ( walgreens) that have NO bella donna or lidocane. Oregel is not recommended anymore.
cool wet wash rags to chew on help.

Then why the hell do doctors recommend it?

No doctor has ever recommeneded orajel for either of my kids.
I can pull up tons of articles if you'd like saying its not safe.
Or you can google.

^FDA warning.

& teething tablets are ALLLL natural. I find them by the diapers in the baby section at walmart. Walgreens has them, cvs, target.

Or get an amber teething necklace.

& there are some doctors that advise against breastfeeding, pro formula, anti formula, quick to induce, csection happy, anti circ, pro circ, all different types of smurf. Some doctors prescribe antiobiotics for every little thing nowadays too.

Just bc a doctor tells you to do something doesn't mean its ALWAYS right. Its up to you as the parent to research things.

Most doctors probably don't have the recent information (like they should) and just say it out of habit. I think from what I remember it toughens their gums and makes it harder for teeth to pop through and something else was happening with it.

OP- my sons gums looked like that a few weeks before his first tooth popped through. So you probably have some coming soon. Teething tablets (we got them at our local grocery store) and tylenol.

I do not know. not all do. my pedi Didn't say anything about it. Just said to give her things to chew on. She never really tells me to give her any medication unless she is getting shots ( tylenol 30 min before) or her eczema cream.

To help with teething I was pinterest when my LO was teething and I found this to help out so good, take a pacifier and sit it in and ice tray filled with water freeze it, then let them chew on it! It's a real life saver!
