Does anyone know anything about law?

My ex broke into my apartment two days ago. I have a protection order against him since he has already committed assault on me when I was six months pregnant. He broke down my bathroom door.I called the police. He was charged with violation of restraint, domestic burglary, and domestic violence. How long can he be put away? I'm tired of him getting right back out of jail and coming after me again. Also will his charges be worse since I'm 7 months pregnant?

And he probably would be 'put away' any longer than he was any other time.,

It will depend on the judge. No it will not be a longer sentence because of your pregnancy. It might be longer if he is considered a repeat offender.

You being pregnant has nothing to do with how they will lay the charges.

Im not familiar with law in the US---but I would assume that their would be some penalty for his actions and would face jail time and/or community service.

can you move? Maybe move away and don't tell anyone where you move to. Meet up with friends outside of your place so he can't find you.

Actually her pregnancy can factor into a judges sentencing if he feel he will be an undo threat to her along with the stress it might cause.

I suggest you show up into court when he is sentanced as you are, and ask to me a victim impact statment. The fact is you being heavily pregnant will evoke sympathy in the jury before they find him guilty, and they will likely recommend a harsher sentence. I also think you should look into purchasing a gun with a biometric safe, and if not at the minimum get a taser.

I cannot move. My job, apartment, and school are all in this town, and my family who is help raising the child is here. My town is so small that I moved from my house to an apartment and he still figured out where I was
