If you're renting, your local health department should be able to protect you from not having water.
If its a problem, I would call and speak to them.

Legally, you have to be provided with heat and water when renting.

That's what I thought but when we went to get the water in our name, they told us that any outstanding balance stays with the address.

Once the weekend comes, you're probably going to have to wait until Monday and that's a long time to go without running water.

They turned it back on. The lady this morning said that she talked to the guy with the outstanding bill and told him that our water was shut off because of him and took his word that he would pay it so we could have our water back.

I understand that but you shouldn't have to pay for it, you know? Its not your bill, you didn't use that water. The water company should just send the bill into collections or contact the previous renter directly. You guys have nothing to do with this water bill yet you're being punished for it.

They lied. When I went to turn my power on here get told me I had to pay the balance on the home. I told them no, I wasn't living here and went back and forth. I talked to a supervisor and they said I didn't have to pay it.
