Had Ultrasound to find missing Mirena IUD ...:
posted 11th Aug '12
Hello
I am 32 with three kids (5 1-2, 3 and 15months all born via c-section)
I had the Mirena IUD placed after my last child was born (it's been in for about 13 months now). Here is my question: I couldn't feel the strings last week so I went to my OB where she looked and could see the device but didn't know exactly where it was ( wanting to make sure it wasn't embedded in my c-section scar tissue she ordered an Ultrasound) I had the ultra sound and she said the IUD is not embedded and it in fact it is right where it is suppose to be well since I have had this placed I have basically been having my period for 3 LONG weeks out of every month for the past 13 months ! My mood swings are crazy, my hair seems like it is coming out like crazy, I am breaking out all over my face and I get migraines and nausea all the darn time. I would love to have one last baby and then have a tubal at the time of the c-section but my husband insists that we are finished in the baby making factory if u were me would you have the mirena removed and go the BC pill route or would u leave it In? ( keep in mind I have no strings to check the thing ...my OB said they are wound around the bottom of the device and she can't pull them out..so I have no way of checking them in a monthly basis)
Not sure what to do :/
Thanks for reading this LONG post

Mine had actually went into my abdomen. It had to be surgically removed last September.

I don't have one, but that sounds AWFUL. I would take it out, definitely.
