CO-bathe & CO-sleep

When do you mamas quit CO-bathe/CO-sleeping? I just stopped. I miss him, but I feel like I need my independence when I'm not at work as far as a quick shower alone or to get good rest for work the next day, but it's killing me inside ending something we've done for 2 1/2yrs.

I have never co-slept or co-bathed, SO just started co-bathing with DS last night and it made an incredible difference! DS is almost 10 months...

I never co-bathed. I did co-sleep with my children till they were around 21/2 Also then put them in their own bed occasionally they would wake up at night and sneak into my room with lol.

My girls are 4 and 2 1/2 and I still co-bathe with them. Not every single time but atleast once or twice a week. I tried to stop the co-sleeping with them, they always go to sleep in their room. But every single night atleast one if not both of them end up in my bed. We actually bought a king size bed to make co-sleeping easier and more comfy, but no such luck. They are such bed hogs.

I think you picked a good age to stop. I co-sleep with DD, but only because she refuses to be in her own bed. lol Its going to suck because you've done it for so long, but its understandable that you want your space too.

Co-bathing isn't something that I ever did every single time.. just when I feel like it or when its more convenient.. and I do that all the way up until the kid starts noticing things and asking questions. lol.

With my son, as soon as he became capable of verbalizing that he recognized the differences between our privates, I decided it was time to stop showering with him (he was probably around two and a half or something). I didn't make a big deal out of it or anything.. just answered his question, explained that boys and girls are different, then stopped taking showers with him.

Now, with my girls, I imagine I'll probably stop by age three anyway.. there's no real differences for them to notice and ask questions about or get confused about, so I guess, that's just a good time to stop doing it.. I don't know.. lol.

My mom let me shower with her until I was actually old enough to remember it (but I don't remember how old, maybe four or five.. I remember it though).

As far as co-sleeping, I didn't with my son, but I did with my daughter, and I did it until she was six months old.. Then I decided it was a good time to teach her to sleep by herself for a couple of reasons..

For one thing, she was becoming more mobile, rolling around and stuff, and I felt that it was safer at that time to move her to her own bed..

I also didn't want to wait too long because I wanted her to get used to it while she was still young enough to make it easier... I knew that it would only get harder to do if I waited.

And it was around that time that she was sleeping through the night without needing to nurse, so it seemed to be a good time for us.

I go sleep with my oldest still but hes only 15 months and he has severe apena and im a light enough sleeper to notice the difference in his breathing patterns...I just feel more comfortable with him by me then if he were in his own room my 3 month old usually sleeps in a bouncer next to the bed as he has severe reflux and the elevation helps...i sometimes co shower but he enjoys his baths so i most nights i just let him play in the tub it wears him out faster. My 3 month old i dont trust my self not to drop him yet because he is so wiggly so he bathes alone

My LO isn't quite 3 1/2 yet, but we still co-sleep (he doesn't even have a bed, since I got rid of the toddler bed, i've yet to buy him a new one, haha). & We co-shower on the weekends. Mo-Thurs, I get up early for work, so I shower before he's even awake.

I don't feel so bad now. Good to know some others don't at this age. He IS noticing differences in body parts as well so that's another reason why I thought we should stop CO bathing. As far as sleep, we only have queen and he likes sleeping side ways so my husband and I never sleep well when he's in bed with us. I feel horrible because I enjoyed both, but it's for the better, I guess.

We co bathe when it's most convenient. They are 11 months and 28 months. Usually it's when I am home alone and need to get ready for work, I prefer to co shower instead of showering while they nap or letting them run wild in the bathroom.

Ella never really co slept, she did have a bassinet next to me, and would bring her to bed to breastfeed. She's been in her crib since she was 3 or 4 months though and has been in her own room for about 3 months now. Lucas still co sleeps and it's going to be hard to get him out of our bed, but when we move to the new house we are hoping to get him in his own bed and room. We are buying a nice twin bed with a comfy mattress.

Christopher has started to begin figuring out body parts so that's what's got me concerned about us continuing to CO-bathe/shower. Ha

Perhaps you could do it a few days a week. During the weekend you could set a little tent up and camp out in the living room  . As for bathing together, well there is nothing stopping you from having your own bath, and still joining him during his.
