I do not think of it as child abuse, but I won't get Alice's ears pierced until she's old enough to ask. Simply because they aren't my ears.

I don't think it's child abuse, but I think piercing with the gun is wrong and people should REALLY research why the gun is so bad. Needle piercings all the way!

ive sat w my friends daughter thru it and its by far abuse. If thats abuse then what about when theyre getting shots and screaming hysterically? My neices both and my friends daughter cried maybe one cry and moved on to the next ear fine.

I don't think it's abuse. I do however think it's an unnecessary thing to do. When i think of my kids, I think why? what do they need them for? It would only be for my benefit. They don't want that pain, and how on earth do I know they would even want it when they're older? They need to make that choice, not me!

Some people would agree that shots are needed (if you vax) but this is not.

People who rush to defend ear piercing in babies are desensitized to the cultural norm. No, I don't think infant ear piercing is a huge deal, but is an unnecessary body alteration of a child who cannot consent. No need for it to even be legal.

I took at as piercings with a gun are abuse. I wouldn't say abusive, but I would say not the best idea.

I won't pierce LOs ears until I think she's old enough to take care of them, and we'll be going somewhere that can do it with needles, not a gun... guns scare me a bit.

I agree that piercing guns are terrible and should not be used for piercings but its not child abuse. What I gather from the photo is the anti gun usage message not piercing a child's ears in general.

10yrs ago when I got my DD ears done.at Clair's by gun they did both.at the same time and she didn't even cry at all.

But as in getting it done for my other kids I would.choose the needle.
DD lost hers and they closed my mom recently went and.got them done.again by the gun. When I showed her about the issues with it she felt bad. Lol

But the pic to me is about not using guns. I don't think in general its abuse.

No, I don't think that getting your baby's ears pierced is abuse. Some mothers will not do it because they want that to be their child's option when they get older but my mom got my sister and I done at a young age, we don't even remember it.   If I have a daughter, I will probably get hers done at a young age too and if she prefers to not have earrings in and just wants them to be closed up then I'd be okay with that too.

Vaccines have a purpose, to keep the child safe from diseases. Ear piercings? No purpose.

To inflict pain on a perfect and innocent childs body for no other reason than to say how cute she is, is what is wrong with the world. Why the smurf do we have to do things with our body so other people can comment and judge ys? Leave your children alone and let them smurf with themselves when they are old enough.
