Quoting MB Maphia Knuckle Berger:“ Well, I am not going to take the percocet. I have been taking ibuprofen 600 and seem comfortable so I'm ... [snip!] ... to stick with this. If it becomes extreme I'm sure I can get the dentist to call something in. Thank you girls for your input.”
Hey, I am glad you are not taking the percocet. I took perc. after my c section for pain, and when we brought Adison to the ER when she was 4 days old, they gave her narcan, bc they thought she was essentially overdosing due to my percocet. The narcan didn't do anything, and it wasnt' the percocet that caused her symptoms, however it really opened my eyes up to making myself more aware. I had asked the dr at the hospital that prescribed the perc if it was safe for nursing, and he said yes. When Adison was in the ICU I saw lactation consultants a couple times, and they looked into perc. and nursing and apparently there were studies done in the past 3 months (well this was almost 4 months ago, so past 7 months from now) that indicate that there can be many negative effects passed on to the nursing infant if mom takes percocet. Anyway, I am not trying to scare you, just be sure what you are getting into before you take the percocet again! At least you know to watch for drowsiness. If you have to take percocet and you are really worried abotu breastfeeding, then feed him pumped milk or formula while you are on the painkillers and pump&dump your milk.
hope that helped, and hope you feel better soon!
