IUD vs. the Mini Pill

SO my OB wants me to think about whether I want an IUD or If i want to try to use the Mini Pill.. I cant do condoms becuase they give me yeast infections, and I have been on every other method of birthcontrol pill and they make me so sick. I'm the "problem child" at the OB LOL. So I was wondering what you ladies think about these two methods.. do they work well?? I only have a few more weeks until I have to tell her which I want to use.

mini pill is cheaper in the short term. an iud without insurance can cost 600$ but, they last for 10 years. (not mirena)

i would recommend the iuc as opposed to iud i havent personally tried the mini pill

what is iuc?

I have the Mirena and I love it. Although I had one side effect and that was nasaeu (SP) But my insurance paid for it so all I had to pay was the co-pay

I have Mirena in and I love it! I personally can't remember pills well, and the mini, you have to take at the same time (or within 3 hours) everyday or it doesn't work. I cramped the first day, spotted for about 3 weeks, and I've not had a period since. And I'm one of the "lucky" ones who gets period back 6 weeks after having baby while breastfeeding, so I know it's the Mirena. It last 5 years, and is 99.9% effective.

its the same thing as an IUD the "C" stands for contraceptive and the "D" stands for device..i think she means you should try the copper IUD instead of the Mirena...

i have the paraguard, its the iuc. ive had it for about 1 month 1/2 and dont have any problems yet! i like it because i dont have to depend on myself to remember to take a pill or get a shot! thats what got me preggers in the first place haha!

I too have the mirena and love it so far I just got it put in not to long ago still spotting but its fading...I just hope i get lucky and have no periods

I opted for Mirena. I didn't have to pay for it b/c of good insurance. It's only been 2 weeks with it, so we'll see how well it continues.

i have mirena and its been good. i have random light spotting, but nothing i cant handle, and definitly better than being pregnant   but the bad thing about the mini pill is remembering it, and that it's not very effective compared to other contraceptives.

whats the mini pill.. is it like regular pills...

The mini pill has less hormones then a regular pill. And I think it only has progesterone and no estrogen in it.

Patients in our office love the mirena..its so rare to see a patient want the Implanon than the mirena. I saw my boss do an implanon and   I rather get the mirena than that..
