I was torn b't the two actually. I didn't go w/ Implanon b/c it was only for 3 years.

ah... ive never heard of it before. I was thinking of getting the shot.. but, then you have the same hormones as you do when your prego.. and thats why you don't get a peroid. I do not want my pregnancy hormones.

Yeah i think i'm going to try the mini pill. I'm allergic to Metal so I cant get the non-hormone version of the IUD. this stinks...I just dont know what to do. I dont have very many options here.

Well, Mirena is plastic so your metal allergy is a moot point with this version of the IUD. There's also Implanon which is a plastic rod that does under your skin by the bicep and lasts for 3 years.

Doesn't the mirena have the progesterone and estrogen hormones though? I'll have to research the Implanon. She was talking to me about the metal one since it didnt have any hormones in it. I have a feeling this is going to be a difficult decision. Do you know how soon after the mirena is placed it can be removed.. just in case I have a reaction to it?

No, it's estrogen-free. Same for Implanon I believe.

And Mirena can be taken out at any time...even as soon as it's placed it if there are medical problems from it.

Mirena= IUC(mild hormones) lasts 5 years

Paragard= IUD(no hormones) lasts 10 years

I plan to get paragard because I can't do hormonal birth control ...it makes me sick also, plus my husband and I hate condoms, they give me a rash...plus they aren't exactly very effective either.
