car seats ?

Do you have to use the base to a car seat ?
I keep hearing different answers...
Do you mommas use the base or not?

You don't have to for an infant seat.

No you don't, it just makes it way easier to have one.

Its just more convenient to have one to get the baby in and out of the car.

no you dont' have to. there are slots for the seat belt and directions on the seat. but it's easier just to click it in the base.

My friend had a baby and I did notice it is much easier with the base, some people say the base don't tighten down as well as it does without the base.

I have a graco snugride 35, and with the base you can pull the seatbelt super tight, and lock it into place with the actual base. It's pretty awesome.

yeah bases arent necessary, just makes it easier as u only have to install the base once and dont have to keep on reinstalling the seat. its mostly for convenience...but why r u asking, dont all infant car seats come with bases in the US and Canada? Unfortunately, u have to buy them separate here, thrn it makes buying a car seat as if u were buying a car!

They are not necessary. The base is in my car and when family or hubby takes the baby they don't use the base. I took my carseat to the fire dept. and they installed it. Nothing makes a carseat tighter than a 300lb firefighter with his knee in the base pulling the straps.
