Q's if you had a *scheduled* repeat C-Section

posted 10th Aug '12
...If so, I have some questions for you!

my last child was born C-Section, but it was unscheduled and everything was crazy and rushed.

On to the questions. I just like to be prepared.

1. What time did you have to be at the hospital? What time was your C-Section scheduled for?

2. How long beforehand could you NOT eat anything?

3. Did they monitor baby's heart, etc.. before performing the c-section? If so, how long?

Thanks in advance! Also, if you want to share how your scheduled C-Section happened in its entirety, thats awesome and appreciated too.

I went into labor with my son after dinner and stayed at the hospital for 4 days getting about and hour sleep a night so im wondering if ill have time before hand to get a good night sleep. Also I didnt eat the first 2 days only water and ice.

I had to be at the hospital at 6am. Csection scheduled at 8 am. They monitored me for the first couple hours before I went back.

Question 1: I had to be at the hospital two hours before my c-section to be put on the monitor. My first was emergency and unplanned, but the second was planned as well as this pregnancy. Second time, it was scheduled for 8am then got pushed back to noon but I went in labor on my own at 9:30 so they took me straight back to the OR, had her at 10:14am. This time it's scheduled for 11:00am and I have to be there at 9:00am.

Question 2: I'm not allowed to eat after midnight the night before; this has/will happened both times.

Question 3: They monitor baby the entire time before the c-section. Two hours.

A scheduled c-section is 100 times better than an emergency/unplanned one! Recovery is easier, you're not in as bad of pain, etc. My first scheduled I was in the hospital 7 days but this time around it's only 2 days (unless there are complications) Get as much rest as possible before your c-section lol
