Breast Feeding Question

Are there any side effects from breast feeding?

Side effects? I'm not quite sure I understand the question.

what do you mean? i'm confused.

Weight loss for mommy? Only side effect I can think of.

I mean do you get fatigue or nausea or a head ache dry mouth anything like that?

ive noticed since i have started really getting on track with pumping every 3 hours i can nap all day !! I didnt know if there was any like side effects of effects on your body

I usually only get really thirsty during the night. Like if I wake up to nurse him sometimes i'm super thirsty. No nausea, doesn't make me tired, no headache.

I mean, the baby is drinking from you and taking nutrients from you, so as long as you're eating well and drinking enough fluids, you shouldn't have any problems with those symptoms. I get thirsty sometimes. That's about it. I'm tired for other reasons unrelated to breast feeding. Lol.

Thanks for clarifying.   It sounds like maybe you're not drinking enough and you're getting dehydrated. You need liquid to produce liquid. You're body also needs extra calories. Are you eating and drinking enough?

I"m 33 days PP SO the first 2 weeks i was okay just super dry mouth but since baby is in NICU i haven't been eating like i should drinking i forget and just so busy with my 2 1/2 year old i am living off an ADVIL bottle and so today i told my self i'd drink drink drink and eat like little snacks and food if i even remember so i'm thinking this def. has something to do with having trouble producing and my sleeping is sooooo outta wrack too so i don't have a routine down for my self as far as sleeping eating :/ i'm a little stressed and didnt know if breast feeding can be part of this maybe a small part but nothing like i am assuming !!

I don't think so :/ just been super stressd and my anxierty is getting the best of me again for a week now b/c DD is doing really well and i just want to take her home then i think to myself.... i have another baby how am i going to do this?? and just start to panic a little and i'm like wait i have another baby its still hard to believe so i think itsa little bit of everything

When you feed your other LO feed yourself too. Stock up on some quick but healthy snacks like granola bars, bananas, pears, etc. That way if you find yourself running out the door and realize you haven't eaten anything you can throw something in your purse/diaper bag and go. I always keep a glass of water next to me and sip on it throughout the day. It helps to have it right there next to you. If you have a spot in the house that you usually use for pumping put a coaster there for a glass of water and a quick snack. It will remind you to eat and drink something while you're sitting and pumping. You have to take good care of yourself in order to be in good enough shape to keep up with LOs. Don't forget about yourself, you're important too. I hope your LO comes home soon!
