would you put your child in school?

posted 10th Aug '12
i am going to texas (all my family is there) for about 3 months (i leave tuesday)
would it be dumb to enroll DD into school while i am there? she would be starting here in Alaska if i wasnt going.. I had planned on just putting her in school when we get back from texas... but im afraid she will be way behind. she is 3, so its only preschool.. but i want her to have that interaction. and back in alaska i need to get a job and preschool here is cheaper than daycare.

idk what to do.. if she goes to school in texas she will start with her best friend fro texas... they have been friends since -9 months. lol

what would you do?

We are living in one town now and moving to another in november. My girls will be going to preschool for a few months here and transfer when we move. It is a good idea to get your daughter used to the setting so when you do move she isn't full of anxiety. She will be excited for her next school.

she wants to go to school so bad.. and this way her VERY FIRST day will be with someone she knows (hopefully in the same class) and ill have moral support from family. lol. then the next time around she wont have to adjust so badly :/ i think im going to. it would be great for her.

I would put her in it. My daughter loves preschool. My main reason for putting her in it was for the social interaction.

Yeah I would try. Here they offer free preschool for low income families. I didn't find out about it until last October and then enrolled her and her first day was Nov. 1. I was really hesitant at first because it was a free preschool I figured it would be more so them just babysitting her which I didn't want, but instead she really learned a lot and cannot wait to start again in a couple weeks! I would call them and ask them about enrollment and stuff. I think it is definitely worth it. My daughter goes 5 days a week, but only 3 hours a day. I would ask about the hours there as well.

well i know she would be qualified for full day in texas because we are military family. they offer full day to low income and military only. so i know we will qualify
but in alaska they dont even have that. so ill be putting her in the christian school paying 400 a month versus regular daycare at almost 700 a month.. and i might even work at the christian school. shes already registered there. lol

im even more excited because my family will get to experience her first day with me. it wont just be me. i went with my aunt with h er daughter so she could cry on me. lol if i do it in alaska my hubs will be at work

Do they offer part time? I know even just 3 hours wore my daughter out.

I would put her in. I know when you move back you can just transfer all her info to a new school. At leastthat what you can do here.
A friend of mine's ex gf and the mother of his son moved 8 hrs away and they share custody of him, he is 5 and been in school for 2 years now, so he lives 6 months here with dad and 6 months with mom so he goes back and forth to different schools.
And like you said its only for 3 months. Education is super important I know I would enroll my kid in school for the 3 months. JMO tho.
