how likely (specific shot with 3d u/s)

posted 9th Aug '12
How likely is it to get a clear shot of the bone structure (or just structure) of hands and feet (specifically toes and fingers) during a 3d u/s?

LO has polydactyly and it's not super important that I know about this baby right away, but I would like to know ahead of time. No real reason, I just wanna know.

We didn't get the genetic testing done last time because we could afford it. Would medicaid cover that? Just so we know for sure it's not caused by any underlying issues?

I know that with my daughters 3D ultrasound I could see her toes and their shape perfectly. They looked exactly how they looked when they came out, I could even tell one was slightly curved like mine.

It depends how far along you are. I'm pretty sure after 16 wks you can see it, the further along, the clearer it is.. & I'm not sure about the medicaid thing

IDK but some tech schools have US students in their US programs do free US. I'd call around and check with them and see what they can do.

Hm, that makes sense. DD1s was just... misleading. It wasn't very clear so we counted toes and came up with five. But she had six on each foot.

I could go in and make them count the fingers and be like, "WHAT THE HELL?!" ahaha.

People are always informing me that she has 12 toes like I'm not aware. I'm like, "OH NO. OH MY GOD. What should I do?!"

Like full functioning fingers? I know my friends daughter had one extra toe, but idk what they did about it.

Sorry if that sounds stupid

It doens't   Yup, fully functioning, bones, tendons, muscles, everything. It was a wicked complicated surgery at 6 months, but too long and it hinders normal (meaning, how everyone else does things) hand development and healed in like 3 weeks.

I kept her toes on ;) you'd have to do double takes to figure it out, the only issue is buying wider shoes. And the recovery for that one would be much worse
