Quoting Gir!:" I couldn't agree more. It's ridiculous. It's all about the drama instead of reality of teen parenthood. ... [snip!] ... of teen parenthood. doesn't help that many of the kids they video are already technically "well off" before getting knocked up!"

Yeah, I haven't seen one issue of "how do I pay for my tuition and diapers? where can I get medical insurance? how do I pay for a car if I can't even pay for food by myself?" They don't show the moms who can't get their babies covered having to stand in line at the DHHR. They don't show the moments where they're judged so absolutely it's dehumanizing (and that DOES still happen). Most kids who have babies are NOT lucky enough to have their parents footing the bills, imo.

Quoting Jamie ♥ [4.3.2013]:" I was technically a teen mom. I got pregnant at 18. It was 4 months after I graduated high school. We were living on our own, too. They don't show how hard it is. "

Because its not for them, They get paid to be on these shows, I hate TM and 16 and pregnant, those shows irritate the crap out of me!
My mom was a teen mom she graduated high school, with out missing a beat, and she had a job while going to school. She basically had to get up drop her son off at daycare go to school, right after school go to work, did her homework on her breaks at work, picked up her son went home and had to take care of him. Than after she graduated high school, she went to college.
One thing my mom stressed to me growing up was how hard all this was, and that if I ever got pregnant as a teen I had better be prepared to get a job and finish high school, and take care of that baby.

Quoting Gir!:" It's boring as smurf to begin with! Hahahaha Maybe not for a kid who's never lived that way and finds the drama cool, but for people who are grown it's usually just.. "w-t-f is your issue?""

I usually get bored after the first 10 minutes and am like "Ok..... there's got to be something better on tv than this"

I did the same thing. They should have filmed my teen mom type of situation without a doubt. I had a restraining order against BD, he was never in my son's life (thankfully). My days were usually:
5am, get up, get myself ready. Check homework quickly for completion and made sure it made sense. Then get connor up by 5:30am, diaper, dress, load up. By 6 I was out the door and by 7:15 had to be at school (I needed help on math bc I slept through it alot). Get out of school by 2:35pm after 6-7 advanced classes, drive 30 minutes to get connor and drop him off at another sitter and by 3:30pm I was at work and worked until sometimes 1am. Barely smurfing functioning LOL. Weekends I worked 12-15 hours a day. School holidays- I worked. Prom-lied to boss to go and wore a $40 dress from pennys. I paid ALL my medical bills out of pocket for a year before getting medicaid and wic. There was no "daddy" in the picture except when he stirred up the pot for his enjoyment. I also still went alone to college visits, graduated with honors, and then started college at OSU, ASAP!
There were MANY times I ran out of gas in the middle of the freeway.. didn't eat for a couple days at a time or only once a day at school when it was free. I'd like to see THAT on MTV!

Oh jesus lord. They need to make a show displaying teen welfare moms, and how godamn hard it is with no support. Then there would be less teen pregnancies. Hahaha. If someone had shown me my future I would have been more careful.

Now that is a teen mom show they need to put on tv!
Instead of glamorizing the situation and making babies the new fricking fashion accessory, show that it really is hard work!
I also blame parents honestly, they enable the behavior, I think more parents should enforce finishing high school and getting a job and taking care of the baby on your own, I think less teens would get pregnant if it wasn't just this, oh well my mom will watch the baby for me and buy everything baby needs.

Thanks! And YES! I really really want that side of it to be seen. It's the reality of being a parent for most people. I've seen the wealthier teens go both ways (helped vs no/little help). I have a really hard time having respect for the ones who get a lot more help from their families then others. I've seen them take advantage of it too much and they learn nothing. I'm not trying to generalize everyone, just saying this has been what I've noticed in my community. My class was only around 140 kids, 6 including me were either pregnant or had a child/ren already. That was just my graduating class lol It's a rural area and school district.. There must have been a lot of romping around in the hay mounds...

LOL^ romping around in the hay mounds. It's everywhere where I live and my dad once asked why the hell? I told him it's in the water haha

And all that didn't include being "shunned" by half my family. I didn't have a "fun" baby shower. It was my grandma's cousins who knew me well and were kind hearted enough to throw a little shower when he was a month old. Only a few aunts and uncles who were close to me understood what happened and saw it for what it was. I was bullied by my mother, her bf, my brother who beat me up during the pregnancy and after for the hell of it, made fun of at school, etc.

I haven't seen anything lesson worthy from MTV. It's always some (barely related) drama and those kids still have friends/family around to support them. There have only been a few glimpses of the realities of being a "teen parent". Like when Kail got kicked out of Jo's house. Jenelle fighting with her mom and the whole bullsmurf with her losing her kid for being reckless. Amber and Gary are just freaking out there and I skip them lol Then Farrah, omfg. How many people can say "oh, she's annoying me. My mom can have her for a month or more"

Lmao! There's no modesty anymore. Even the Amish have unwanted teen pregnancies. Has anyone ever paid attention to stories about how they did "prevention" in the old days? One story said if say a young man stayed too late at a girl's house and got stuck there the parents of the girl would put a board between the two. Like, really? Another story is that they'd sleep in the parents bed altogether and still do it...just really quietly... next to maw and paw

well now I kinda feel bad because my parents do help me a lot...but I still go to college and i'm getting a job just having a hard time doing so. but I guess I get some help because my son is special needs and can't crawl/walk yet and he's 19 months but I guess that doesn't make it a good enough excuse. I do have to deal with a lot of insurance probs and appts and running back and forth in between doctors and it sucks plus I don't have my license so I really can't mobilize myself ._.

I think that's a completely different story. You still are being a real parent. What I mean by help is paying all the bills or at least most, babysitting while they party or do fun things, etc.. I'm talking about the slackers who already had a good life and still were spoiled after screwing up.. literally. Lol! That really sucks about the license. Idk what I'd do without being able to "mobilize" on my own!

lol ohhh okay. yeah it's pretty hard not gonna lie   and I've never ever ever drank before or been to a party so I can't say that's me then lol but one thing I do hate is how girls go out and party and dump their kids on their parents they need to grow up and stop being spoiled...they totally take for granted that their kids are healthy and I hate that..
