I got this from the IRS website
Q. Is my stimulus payment taxable?
A. No. You will not owe tax on your payment when you file your 2008 federal income tax return. But you should keep a copy of the IRS letter you receive later this year listing the amount of your payment.
Q. Will the payment I receive in 2008 reduce my 2008 refund or increase the amount I owe for 2008?
A. No, the stimulus payment will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return.

Well maybe this could be why

What if You Made More than the Maximum Income?
You will still get a check, but it will be reduced by 5-percent of the amount you earned above the AGI income caps of $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for couples. For example: A single filer with no children and an adjusted gross income of $80,000, or $5,000 over the AGI cap, will see their rebate check reduced by $250 (5% of $5,000), and will get a check for $350, instead of $600. At some income point above the AGI income caps, the rebate checks will phase out completely. For example: A single filer with no kids and an adjusted gross income of $87,000, or $12,000 over the AGI cap, will not get a rebate check because it would be reduced by the full $600 (5% of $12,000).

I think that if you got 300 for each one of your kids and at least 300 for every adult who made over $3000 in the year then your return was prob. right! I'm sure that they know what their doing lol.

This whole thing has been so confusing! There have been sooooo many different places saying so many different things that it's hard to know what is the truth! I have followed what the IRS has said, and so far it has been accurate.

That can't be right. I made well over $15,000 and only got $300 for myself.

did you get the earned income credit on you tax returns? Cause I did but I didn't get the full 600. It's like they reduced it.

It's supposed to be $1200 for married couples filing jointly.
Also you can get up to $600 on the stimulus payment.
