weight gain at 23 weeks

posted 16th May
i've gained 18 pounds so far and I'm 23 weeks. Is anyone else getting pressure from older women in their family about gaining weight? My grandma is more concerned about my weight gain than any other aspect of my pregnancy.

I'm 16 wks today and I look like i should be atleast 6 mos! I've had people ask if I'm having twins cause I'm so big but I haven't gained any weight, I've actually lost weight, I think because I'm small I just look hugeMom gets on me everytime she sees me eating something unhealthy like ice cream telling me I'm gonna blow up and older ladies I work with ask me if I'm sure I'm only 4 mos. I think everyone is different and if your doctor isn't worried about your weight than don't mind you grandma. You have to remember back when she gave birth they only had male doctors so they drilled into womens heads that they couldn't gain more than 2lbs a month!

My co-workers just got mad at me for bringing that up. lol I was talking about how i was worried about not being able to get the weigt off pp.. and they pretty much went off on me. lol I'm 26 weeks and I've gained 18 lbs. But I guess some people worry more about that than others. But everybody tells me to not worry about it and that if you're motivated, you will get the weight off. Just tell your g-ma that youre not worried about it right now. That would depress me to hear that all the time...

Quoting Mrs. Fontenot:“ i've gained 18 pounds so far and I'm 23 weeks. Is anyone else getting pressure from older women in their ... [snip!] ... in their family about gaining weight? My grandma is more concerned about my weight gain than any other aspect of my pregnancy.”

I gained 12 lbs in the 1st trimester, alone because my body wasn't sued to eating and it went into starvation mode when I was first pregnant because I was actually eating (I would NEVER starve myself while pregnant).....and around your 6th month-mark, you will gain the most because it's when your baby has the biggest growth spirt....but don't worry about your weight....I gained 63 lbs, lost 20 10 days PP, didn't even try to lose weight until the beginning of April and have dropped 22 lbs since then. The more you gain, the more you have to lose...but just watch what you eat and try to take 1/2 hour walks everyday to boost your metabolism a little.

i don't really worry about the weight gain. i really like the big belly. lol. i do think the reason older women have such a problem with pregnancy weight gain is because of their generation's doctors. my grandma told me her doctor said she could only gain 2 lbs a month and when i gained 10 last month she freaked out.

oh heck yeah..I get it from everywhere even strangers. Im 20 weeks and have gained 13 pounds. haha. I hate it. its annoying. My grandfather calls me rolly poly and my grandma always mentions how she didnt gain very much weight at all. I just shrug it off cause I gained well over 55 pounds with both of my other kids and Ive always managed to lose the weight in less than 6 months.

I'm 25 weeks and have gained about 25 lbs. To hell with everyone else, as long as you are eating healthy I wouldn't worry about the weight.
In all honesty, I thought I was a fat pig for gaining so much but suddenly everyone around me is commenting about how good I look and how beautiful I look pregnant and how small my bump is (to me it feels big..LOL) so hell I must be doing something right
