Would you vote for a gay presidental candidate?

I wouldn't.

It's not that I have a problem with homosexuals, but I believe that America has an image to keep up. I think that having a homosexual as a president would affect our relations with other countries negatively.

I don't know about the future because I would hope that the world as a whole will grow more tolerant of differences between people, but I don't see it as a good thing in the near future.

This topic devestates me. I can't believe anyone would ever vote or even consider a homosexual capable enough of running a country! That's like voting a woman into the White House! We all know that homosexuality is an abomination to all humankind and these filthy animals would only be thinking of boning their male counterparts instead of focusing on the task at hand!

Just kidding. I don't give a crap what thier sexual preference is at all. I don't care what our current President and his wife do in bed, why would I care about a gay President? Go him. Perhaps it would pave the way for our homosexuals to be open about thier preference in the military without persecution or demotions.

Personally, I would not have a problem voting for a homosexual presidential candidate.

But I believe that sexuality needs to be kept out of it...which I also believe religion should be kept out of it also.

A candidate should be shown as worthy and capable of running the USA without help from their religious beliefs and/or sexual orientation.

I have a feeling that a homosexual candidate would, in many cases, be voted for or against JUST because of their sexual orientation. There are many US citizens who would not look past their sexual preferences.

Well, the heteros haven't done too good a job at keeping up that wholesome American image as of late between Bill's front-page infidelity and George's warmongering and fiscal irresponsibility, so sure, why not? Any change is a potential improvement.

Heh. Thats really not new, been that way for about 20 years now. F it, we're not trying to win prom queen.

To the op: I would if I agreed with him/her on the issues. Sexual preference isn't a huge deal to me.

Right-so I don't see how a gay president could make it any worse.

Saying Hilary is a 'little' manly is like saying Andre the Giant was a 'little" manly!
Understatement of the century!

I voted yes.
As long as I agree with them on key issues and they seem like they would be a fit leader, sure. But I wouldn't vote for them simply because they were gay.

Quoting Ms. Von Fate:“ Do you think there will come a day where America elects a gay president? Would a candidate's sexual preference have any impact on your vote if you agreed with him or her on all the major issues?”

Yes, I think there will come a day that homosexuals are accepted by the majority, and that one could be elected president. I see it as people letting go of their societal taboos and progressing.

A candidate's sexual preference would have no impact on my vote if I agreed with him/her on major issues.

I would vote for a gay presidential candidate! It doesn't make them any less of a leader. I think it'd be great, actually. That would have been cool to have a woman, a black man and a gay/lesbian candidate for this election.

Hahaaa... I won't make the joke that I wanted to say. Don't wanna lose friends.
