Pacifiers

DD is 11 months old and I just got one of those Pampers emails that they send for updates about your baby.
This month they say its time to get rid of the pacifiers. DD isn't too attached to her pacifier, she falls asleep without it and I only use it when she's crying or teething bad (it really comforts her when she has a tooth coming in). Originally I wanted to get rid of it at 18 months, I'm transitioning to sippy cups right now so I don't know if I should just get rid of them or make small changes one at a time.
When did you get rid of the pacifier? (If you never used a pacifier, awesome for you but you're not really being helpful by telling me you never used one, its a little too late for that with DD)

My DD quit hers at 4 months, but my son is now 14 months and still uses it quite often. I plan to start weaning it from him in the next couple of months. His molars are coming in so he uses it for comfort and I would feel cruel taking that away from him.

I know tons of kids that have them past a year. I have heard the longer you wait, the harder it is. But I am a very firm believer in doing what works for you and your family

My kids never really the paci, they both stopped taking it on their own. DD was 11 months and DS was 7 months.
I don't think I'd worry to much about it though. My nephew will be 3 in Dec and he stills takes a paci. So they can't be all that bad.

By 9 months my first DD only wanted sippys but the paci didn't go until right around 1 year

Both my kids went cold turkey on pacifiers and bottle at a year. And it was easy. I think it's the best time, as I've seen the trouble of parents trying to get rid of them when the child was older.

My LO seems to be about the same as yours when it comes to the bink. she doesnt want it 24/7 but she will grab it if she sees it. she one in her bed, carseat, and play pen. and i seem to notice her more with it when she is teething. but she doesnt suck on it she like bites the crap out of it. i would say when you are comfortable with it take it away but if shes not on it all the time i dont see the big deal. My DD has been on sippy cups since 6 months though. she does like them.
