My 4 year old is a complete terror. Nothing I do or say gets the point across to him. He is mean to his little sister, screams at her, hits her and I even caught him slamming her head into the carpet. He is out of control and I have no idea what else to do. I've done time outs, I've removed his toys from his room.
He is currently on time out, screaming and yelling. I'm 6 months pregnant and I can't handle him. I'm so overwhelmed.
DS is 5, and is the same way. Has been for a while.
He's not mean to his sister, but he's very challenging.
I take away the smurf he likes to play with. But nothing really works.
Try to get him outside more to run around. It can help alot more than you'd think; wearing off some of that psychotic little boy energy.
Quoting Pregnant&Barefoot:" I spank my kids and it works well for us."
I've done the spanking and he just walks it off like nothing happened and continues his bad behavior.
I feel ridicolous that a 4 year old has worn me down to the point that I'm crying over his behavior. I'm just so lost
My 3.5 year old takes spells of this also. The easiest thing I have found is to keep her busy. So I ask her to be my helper. She takes pride in doing "grown up" things like gathering laundry, loading the dish washer, sweeping, or helping me bake a cake or cookies. It helps keep her busy and by my side so I know she isn't bothering her older brother (who is 4.5) or either of the babies (who are 4 months). It seems like the extra attention dose the trick and lets me get so much more house work done!
